Don't know what to do...

Postby ouch4466 » 11 Dec 2014, 17:43

I have now had 2 LIS and fissurectomy surgeries after battling a fissure for almost 2 years. The last was the end of October. I healed and then developed another fissure in the same anterior spot. I have pain and bleeding. The surgeon said he isn't going to continue doing surgeries on me for incontinence risks. I'm only 27. I hav a decent diet and I don't have constipation. He says it isn't something I did wrong, just that I can't seem to keep this away. I am being send to a proctologist in a bigger city nearby and won't b in for four weeks. I don't know what to do in the
meantime. I was told to stop the diltiazem and to not use the hydrocortisone creams or suppositories. I have a lot off swelling, two skin tags (one is very red) and a deep pain that goes blow the surface where the fissure is. I'm at a loss.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's heart breaking when surgery fails!

Whilst you are waiting for your appt you could try warm baths, sudocream, hot water bottle and pain killers to take the edge off.

I really hope your new CRS will shine a light at the end of the tunnel for you!!

Thank you for the kind words. I am taking painkillers as well as sitting in the tub when I can. I hope he has some advice/ideas for me.

So sorry you are going through this and I wish I had something helpful to say. I am the same age as you and in a similar situation with ongoing problems in that area that can't seem to be fixed. I hope the proctologist will be able to help you.

Have you asked for colostomy?

No, I would rather deal with this than have a colostomy. I'm seeing a proctologist in the beginning of January to see if he has any ideas or further treatment plans. For now taking stool softeners and baths is what I'm doing.
