Thanks for the update Ann. It is so nice to hear long term success stories. I think I can recall reading you had a difficult recovery post LIS (I hope I'm right on that one) so it really encourages me as my first 5 weeks have been full of difficulty, pain and disappointment. I hope I am just slow to recover.

So glad to hear you are doing so well.

Thanks fissurefrustration.no I don't have problem with incontinence.every BM I used shower head to clean up and then soak in the tub for 15 mins, but what I notice though is after an hour I have to wash or wipe again because of some pieces of poop left.and sometimes I got like irritation if I don't clean really good down there.no major..how about you?

Hi Ann,

I'm struggling with stool leakage since my LIS nearly 3 months ago, and just wanted to ask you some questions since you seem to have a similar issue.

My surgery seems to have changed the shape of my anus, it is skewed where the incision was made, and stool leaks out of this new "crease" throughout the day after a BM, no matter how many times I clean, an hour or two later there is still bits of stool around my anus. I'm not sure if you've ever looked, but does any of this match what happened to you?

I find it very difficult to clean up after a BM, I usually need a mirror and wet wipes, otherwise I can just keep wiping forever with regular toilet paper and it never get clean. Again, do you have any problems like this?

The only way I can guarantee that I will not leak during the day is to use a small enema bulb filled with warm water after each BM. This is OK when I'm at home, but is impossible when I need a BM outside of the house.

I have been struggling with these issues a great deal. I'm not sure whether our issues are similar or not. Did your cleaning issues get any better since LIS or have the stayed the same over the last year? Did you ever bring it up with your surgeon? If so, what did he say about it?

I'd be grateful for any info you can give me. Kind regards.
