Just home from LIS surgery this morning!

Postby Whatapaininthearse! » 25 Feb 2015, 08:52

Hi All,

For any of you that saw my previous posts, just thought I'd write a update.

I got home about a hour ago after having LIS this morning. I was first on the operating list, luckily. I went to theatre at 09.15 and I woke up in the recovery room at 09.55.

I felt a bit sore but not too bad, just a bit groggy. They let me come around a bit more and then took me up to the ward at about 10.30. I was told I had, had local anesthetic put into the wound and the nurse gave me 2 tramadol ( they were great!). I left the hospital at about 12pm after walking slowly, a fair distance to the car park. It was slightly uncomfortable but not painful! I am now home on the sofa being looked after by my partner.

At this very moment I can't feel anything down there and feel ok. I notice there is some gauze/padding up there which will come out when I have a BM. The surgeon said I will be bruised but that I should be fine to go to Dublin on Saturday. For those of you that read me previous post, you will know what that's about.

Fingers crossed this LIS is going to work and I will be on the road to recovery!!

Congratulations! It's so good to have the surgery behind you now and you can concentrate on healing. I hope that it goes quickly for you and you don't experience much pain over the next few days and weeks.

Well, I made it through yesterday, pretty pain free, just a bit uncomfortable. I took regular paracetamol and ibuprofen just to try and keep on top of things. I went to bed about 10.30 last night and there was some soreness creeping in, I imagine it was the local anasethetic they put around the area wearing off? I didn't get much sleep, but I'm quite a worrier underneath it all and I think half of the pain I feel sometimes is in my head!! I've found this whole fissure journey both mentally and physically challenging.
It's almost like I have to try and retrain my mind to think, 'you're going to have good days all the time now and this is going to get better' which I am hopeful it will!

I think I'm going to have a BM this morning, so this will be the true test! I'm not thinking it's not going to be sore but my god it will be great if it's easier to deal with than before.
For now I'm being positive! This is going to work! I'll keep you all posted x

Hello again all. Well I still haven't been for my first BM yet. This is unusual for me. I guess things can change a bit straight after surgery though? I know we are all different. I've had plenty of fibre, lots of water, 2 lots of Fybogel, some dried fruit and i still haven't been yet. Not sure if it's because I am worried about how painful it's going to be.....not that it's certain to be painful I guess. This is the first time I have used Fybogel, the Surgeon said I should start using it after the op. Up until now I have used Laxido which always make me go...wondering if I should take that in the morning if I still haven't been?

Just wish I could relax and it would just happen.....we'll
See! Xx
