LIS surgery Tuesday

Postby Broncosgirl » 26 Mar 2015, 20:32

I wanted to tell you all how much I have apprecited the wisdom and support on this form.

I have scheduled my surgery for Tuesday morning. I have scheduled and then cancelled LIS once already, but increasing pain after almost 2 months on nitro and diltiazem was the last straw. I feel a bit reluctant to have scheduled it as I have only had my fissure since Janurary instead of years like many of you, but I feel meds would have worked even slightly by now especially since I started them so quickly after getting my fissure. I have only had 2 pain free days in almost 10 weeks and for the past week the pain has gotten very bad again.

I am very nervous. Not so much about the pain because I can't imagine it would be worse that it already is, but about possible complications. I will keep you all updated.

Good luck with your surgery, Broncosgirl! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you'll be fissure-free soon. : ) Keep us updated when you can.
January 2013 - Diagnosed with fissure. Eventually turned chronic.
History of IBS and anxiety disorder, along with fear of using bathrooms other than my own caused it.
Tried Diltiazem, but eventually developed a rash.
LIS surgery scheduled August 26th.

Well in 24 hours I will be in surgery. I have felt like my surgery day is ChristmAss Day because I have been in so much pain. I couldn't wait for it.

Now, just 24 hours before it happens I am starting to question my decision to have it done. I am wondering if "maybe I just gave it more time it would have healed". Did anyone else feel this way before surgery and then end up feeling glad they did it afterward? I am just a bit anxious I suppose.

Yes, I felt exactly that way, and was very scared about going through with it. You can't even imagine how happy I am that I did though. It has been over two months now since my LIS, and I still marvel every day about how much my life has improved and how wonderful my BM's are now!

All the best to you tomorrow and I hope that you heal very quickly.

Yes, even after two years of battling with this I was questioning right up until the moment they knocked me out. You can't help the "what if" mentality. Just remember 95% success rate. That kept me going and is keeping me going.

Good luck tomorrow and keep us posted!

Ditto what had already been said! I was first recommended to do it last July but was too scared then and wanted to try nitro. I had had enough with retears by February when I scheduled my LIS, however, and even though I was still scared (I almost canceled mine a few days before), I went through with it. I'll be 3 weeks out this Thursday and I'm already so happy I did it!
