Naturopath/Natural Healer on fissure

Postby hurtinend » 22 May 2015, 20:41

I am desperate

I made an appointment with a naturopath/natural healer, very well regarded, here is her take on anal fissure:

1) surgery is highly unlikely to resolve the issue long term
2) diet is only 50% of the issue
3) thoughts are the source of the issue, negative thoughts, depression, FEAR is the key, those who live in fear of life and challenges suffer from a colon that tenses up, the colon and mind are intimately connected
4) eat foods that promote body alkalinity, acidic body is a diseased body
5) squat when pooping, breathe, relax, do not anticipate pain
6) do light yoga, meditate on relaxation, remove all negativity in life, including partners that stress you
7) avoid meat, dairy, gluten
8) avoid creams, painkillers unless absolutely necessary

That's about it. All I can say is that she was the healthiest person I have ever seen, vibrant with glowing skin and positive energy, hard to explain yet clearly evident.

I expected her to try to sell me a bunch of herbs and potions, she did none of that, just a talk, her expressing her opinion on the matter. She took my bp, told me I had stress from work, I am in fight or flight mode, hmmmm, I think......she's right.

I want all of us to heal. This post is purely her take on the issue. Hoping for healing for all of us suffering.

Thanks for sharing. I also saw a natural path and was told something similar. I was also told the same thing in one of the spiritual groups I am a part of. The fight or flight thing really rings true for me and I am striving for emotional balance. I have to admit that in the beginning I cut out everything (meat, gluten, dairy) but have slowly started eating everything in moderation. I haven't posted in success stories yet but I think I am on the road.........want to give it a bit more time. But the FEAR is always there.
Again, thanks for sharing!

You are welcome, I want to share everything I research.

My current thought: I chose the wrong profession, I am an I.T. Network Professional, highly stressful, many late nights and weekends doing upgrades and changes, changes that effect thousands of users and finance bottom lines, I love it, but I hate it, constant need to take more courses on my own time, labs setups at home for testing, and constant pressure to perform without error.

But, what else would I do, it's my profession, I guess I'm a stress case but I know not how to come to peace with it all, couple that with a horrid personal breakup 5 years ago and I'm broken.

The mind is a funny powerful tool. When i was in the depths of my fissure somehow there were days when it wasn't that bad. As I look back more of those days were centered around important events where I needed to rise to an occasion and be present. there will always be stress, we just need to figure out how to deal. Good luck

I'm feeling dark today, I am getting worse with spasm and pain after bm, not during. No blood.....my heart rate increases after bm, my body is feeling the pain, and I know my day will be bad.

The diltiazem/lidocaine isn't doing anything, I've been using it one week now. Concentrating at work is becoming impossible, sitting is irritating, getting very difficult to concentrate.

Not sure what to try now, nothing is working, my inner demon is telling me to give up.

Have you tried botox? I can't remember if you already have or if that is an option for you. It could help with the spasms which cause terrible pain and prevent the fissure from healing.
Whatever the case, hang in there. Sorry you are suffering

Hurtin....i feel for you buddy....been there in those dark corners when everything feels bleak and horrible and it seems that there is little reason to hope.

All I can say is I fully get it and was there myself....and if someone would have told me at that moment that i would climb out of that hole and see the sunlight again i would have nodded my head but internally thought....you have no idea what i am going through and the amount of pain i am in.

Well I am here to tell you that you will climb out of that hole. It took me at least 3 weeks for the diltiazem to really begin working and about 8 weeks before i could say that i was actually beginning to feel human again...by 12 weeks i saw the sun. It is a really hard road to travel but you got to try and take it one day at a time, hour by hour and minute by minute. Try focusing on what is working for you rather than what is not.

i found a great book called "You are not your pain" -- it is written by people who suffer with chronic pain and how they have come to deal with it....check it out, highly recommended. If you dive in to this book it will help you rethink your situation and give you the "space" to heal.

As for work -- I had the same problem...three things helped me. One, I worked pretty close to home so I would g home for lunch and take a bath. Two, I sat on a heating pad all day when i sat. Three, I purchased a stand up desk (actually something that modifies my desk so i can stand or sit) so that when particularly sensitive i could stand

Wishing you the best.

Mu sympathies, Hurtinend.
Canada is right, it will take more than a week to feel the difference. Keep persevering. I know it's hard.
Here is another vote for sitting on a heat pad at work. Saved my sanity. I used a hot water bottle, and I would reheat in the microwave oven (3 minutes, depending on your microwave's power).
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
