Hey all,
I've suffered badly from anal fissure pain for 5 years now. I was always scared of doctors/scalpels. There were days I couldn't drive 30 minutes from West LA to my job in Hollywood without stopping to walk around at least 3 times. I've always used a standing desk. The pain would always hit about 3-4 days a week between 9am (or after a poo), and 3pm when it would subside. I finally went and saw a doctor last week on Wednesday, Dr. Yoo of LA Colon and Rectal. They weren't on my insurance plan but I liked their reviews and credentials. He diagnosed 2 anal fissures, large in his words.

I was gonna go botox and then I said screw it, let's just cut. Seemed like better odds. I had my ass in the air by 6:30 am Friday morning and Dr. Yoo cut me twice to relieve pressure, spasms, etc. A sphincterotomy to be exact. I haven't had much pain at all. None in the fissures and very minor from the incisions. I took one percocet and tramadol (or was it toradol) the first night and one each last night. But I went directly back to work on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Today (Sunday) I feel amazing. I've walked the dogs extensively and done errands, went to dinner last night, but no workouts yet.

Just amazed at the relief, had two BM's with no pain (using Miralax once daily) and eating bran and veggies. No incontinence. Dr. Yoo gave me my quality of life back I believe. If anything changes, I'll post about it but otherwise, very satisfied with sphincterotomy and Dr. Stephen Yoo of LA Colon and Rectal.

Checking back in. I'm now completely pain free after one week. I took a long skateboard ride yesterday, no issues. BM's are normal, zero incontinence. The incisions have stopped oozing anything. I stopped having fissure pain immediately but the incisions could get a tad sore at times, but that's gone now. Overall, I'm fortunate to find a great doctor and was already very fit going in so that helped. The Lateral Interior Sphincterotomy was the right decision for me.
