I eat very healthy and drink plenty of fluids. I have regular bowel movements and only sometimes are they hard and hurt, but not very often. I once had a small external hemorrhoid that I think happened from doing some strenuous work. I am a 43 year old male 6' 190lbs.
Well Saturday of last week after a bowel movement, which did hurt a little, there was bright red blood on the toliet paper. I had no pain of any kind all the rest of the day or on Sunday. Sunday night I woke up at midnight in unbelievable horrible pain as if there were razor blades inside my rectum! I suffered all night that night and got no sleep. On Monday after my morning bowel movement things felt a little better but it still hurt to sit. I stayed home from work and rested on my side. Tuesday and Wednesday things seemed to be improving and I was not having any pain or blood with bowel movements.
On Thursday night I woke up again at 2am in the same horrible pain and never went back to sleep and suffered all night! I had to go to work and again on Friday morning after a bowel movement it was a little better but I was hurting all day sitting in a chair at work. I was figuring this was an internal hemorrhoid as everything looks normal on the surface so I have been using Prep H. Saturday during the day I was pretty uncomfortable but not horrible. Last night I woke up at midnight in the worst pain yet; the pain is non-stop and feels like razor blades! So here I am and it is 5:30am and I have been up all night in pain and came across this website.
I got some lidocaine gel a few days ago and while applying it last night/this morning I saw what looked like an open cut just inside my rectum and after looking up AF pictures that is what it looks like so I think that is what I have and not hemorrhoids. Saturday of last week is the only day I ever had any blood on toliet paper.
I really do not want to go to the emergency room as I find this emberassing and wish I could just treat it on my own, but also I don't know if I can go through another night of this. The worst pain has been during the night on Sunday, Thursday, and last night and then gets a little better in the morning. Does this sound like an AF and should I go to the ER?
