Surgery. Phew!

Postby Sammy » 27 Aug 2015, 22:16

I'm having surgery tomorrow. A bit nervous but relieved at the same time. After I had my second child I had a horseshoe abcess which was the worst pain I've ever had in my life, no joke. It erupted before they could drain it but healed ok. About 3 months later I had another abcess drained in office. I've had constant drainage and discomfort since, about 8 months, so I've decided to take care of it. Nice to read these posts since I don't dare talk to anyone about my ass problems!

I imagine that you're having a fistulotomy, and I had LIS, but I am wishing you all the best tomorrow. Good luck and I hope that your recovery is swift and easy.

I'm not sure that your surgeon would give you a choice about whether he performed an open or closed procedure, and from what I understand, both have their pros and cons. Most surgeons become familiar with one technique, and probably it's best if you go with what they are most experienced with.

I will be thinking about you on Thursday and hoping that you recover very quickly and with as little pain as possible.

Good luck!

Hope things went well, Solomon.
Thanks for well wishes everyone!
Unfortunately, I have another abscess (ughhh, that unmistakable pain) and need to go in again next week. On the positive side, I know what to expect and I did feel good afterwards. Still, slightly disappointing since I kinda thought I'd be done with all this.

So sorry that you have another abscess, Sammy. Hope they manage to sort it for you quickly. Feel so sorry for you developing this, and especially so soon after having what sounds like a fistulotomy. Do get better soon and let us know how you are doing? :smilyhug:
