What does it feel like when a fissure is healing?

Postby Mae » 04 Dec 2014, 15:07

Okay so it's not really "chronic" but....
I've been having a feeling of pressure and a dull pain (almost like when you have to pass gas, but I don't have to pass any) around my anus for the last few days. For those of you who don't know my story, I've had about four bloody stools in the past 2 weeks. Only the most recent one (Monday) had any pain. But ever since then I've been having this feeling of pressure. Is it just the fissure healing? Or hemorrhoids? Or is it related to my menstrual cycle? (First bloody stool started around ovulation day. And now this feeling of pressure starts a few days before my period.)

(Maybe it's "tenesmus"?)

The pressure feeling is often muscle spasm of the internal sphincter muscle. It can be brought on by any injury to the area such as hemorrhoids and fissures. Heat should relieve the spasm, if that is what it is. Either in the form of a bath or heating pad...

I tried a hot bath a few hours ago but it didn't help for long. Now I'll try a heating pad. Thanks!

Any advice for what to do while I'm at work for the next three days? :/

What do you do for work? The baths aren't always instant but can be a great healer. Do you have any epsom salts. They help relax muscles and reduce swelling.

No I don't think we have any and I'm broke at the moment : /

I work at a restaurant so I have to stand all day.

I don't know if there is a chat function. Your method definitely worked though...I think I have done the same thing when something new and scarey comes up.

Being on your feet all day can be challenging. The best thing you can do is get off them and do some soaks whenever you can. Unless you can call in sick. I don't know how much they bother you but standing will make them swell.

So far it only hurts when I've been sitting for awhile. But then again I haven't done much standing today...

Am adding to an old thread here as I an experiencing the same feeling.
This feeling of fullness even when you dont need to pass a stool ???
Does this feeling eventually go away.
Not sure if I have a tear but its possible.
But am definately feeling a dull ache & a feeling of fullness.
Anybody experience anything like this ?
Many thanks

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been so busy I've barely been on this forum. But the answer is YES, the feeling does go away. I do experience pain sometimes (I've had a few recurrences since I posted this thread), but I haven't gotten the feeling of pressure/fullness since, like, the first week.

I see you posted this in August. I really hope you feel better now!
