Help! Does anyone know when stitches dissolve?

Postby msimon » 19 Nov 2014, 00:19

My pain has really located to a very strong pin prick inside at a specific spot and I can hardly move. My guess would be it is a stitch poking something very sore and pain killers are not much help. Just wondering if anyone can tell me when the stitches are supposed to dissolve so I can have some hope for relief. :thankyou:

I notice it's been about a year since your surgery. I just had it and am not doing so hot, day 4. Just wondering how things turned out for you....

Hi Reds. Welcome to the forum! Well, the good news is that I am healed. It took me a rather a long while as I developed an abscess after the surgery and required a second, more significant surgery.
How are you doing?

Ugh that's such a shame. I'm glad to hear you are healed though. That gives me some hope. I'm day 8 post surgery. Stitches are still so uncomfortable & there is still very significant pain after BM's. Hoping it all ends soon!

Most dissolvable stitches start to break down within one to two weeks. However, it could take several months before your stitches disappear completely. After the wound has healed, it may be possible for a nurse to remove the loose ends of the dissolvable stitches, to speed up the process.
