Update: 3 appointments with CRS: 1st one he confirmed the fistula did not heal and advised a colonoscopy to rule out Crohns. The colonoscopy ruled out Crohns and he removed 2 small polyps that were precancerous and suggested a follow up colonsocopy in 3-5 years. The final appointment was yesterday to discuss treatment options for the fistula. Option 1 a second fistulotomy if the fistula did not involve too much muscle or option 2 a seton if too much muscle was involved and then a folow up procedure 3 or 4 month later. That is about it, will have the procedure after our vacation in July.

Thanks for the update Tubby. I'm glad you got a negative on the Crohns and that they removed your polyps. Sorry to hear you have to go in for surgery but hopefully it will resolve your issues for you. Keep us posted. Hope you have a great vacation. Going somewhere nice and warm I hope.

Hi, all
Had my second fistulotomy on Thursday, smaller incision and not nearly as unfortable. My CRS said it looked like a "cave" and he cleaned it out and opened up the fistula track. See him on right before Christmas for my follow up.

Glad to hear you are less uncomfortable after this one. Hopefully that's a sign this will be the one that heals you for good.

Happy New Year!
Had my follow up with my CSR last week and he said it looks like I am healing and would not need to come back to see him. He did say to expect some drainage and a small amount of bleeding as the wound continues to heal and this could go on for a couple of months and approximate total healing time is 3 months after surgery.
