We have never recommended olive oil enemas on our Forum, and would not do so.

There are about three posts that I was able to find that actually mention someone using enemas with olive oil, but the majority posts (748) refer either to taking it by mouth, or applying it to the skin of the anus, just as you would apply Vaseline or any other moisture cream/ointment.

Do tell your doctor that we try to always advise our members to consult a medical specialist before 'trying' alternative treatments, including enemas. They are not the answer.

Fissures can be painful in the extreme. That is something so many of us have experienced on here. Miralax is just the best for getting smooth BMs. The fault is the involuntary anal spincter that gives us all the pain as it cannot be relaxed by us, so can be like a continuous calf-muscle cramp!

Hope the colonoscopy is not too bad (usually the concoction is the worst part of the ordeal) and they sort things out for you. You do need for your colon to be "clean" for the procedure to be done. Good luck. And come back and let us know how it all goes. :sunny:
