Just wanted to thank everyone involved with this forum as it helped me get through a very tough time.
I had a chronic AF for 13 months with all the associated symptoms (sharp pain, blood etc).
For the last 6 months I have been symptom free! Still nervous before every BM but so far so good.
Everyone is different and you have to find what works for you, but my program to healing was as follows:
Creams
1) Rectogesic/GTN cream (0.2%) applied 3 times a day for the first 4 weeks. The headaches ease over a couple of days.
2) Rectogesic/GTN cream (0.2%) applied 2 times a day for the next 2 weeks.
3) Rectogesic/GTN cream (0.2%) applied 1 time a day for the next 2 weeks.
4) Dr Wheatgrass cream applied 1 time a day for the next 3 months.
Supplements
1) Magnesium tablet before bed for the first 8 weeks.
2) Probiotic before bed (ongoing).
3) 1 teaspoon of wheatgrass mixed in water, taken twice a day, one first thing in the morning and one before bed (ongoing). I think the alkalinity of this really helps the recovery process.
Diet
1) Porridge for breakfast.
2) Try not to have any milk and very little cheese. Still eat plenty of chocolate though!
Mistakes I made
1) I took psyllium husk for about 6 months but it made the BMs large and I had lots of retears.
2) Once I ate a whole bag of jelly candies (in a depressed state) and the resulting BM was hard to pass and caused a retear. Never again!
Things that made no difference
1) Table spoon of olive oil taken daily.
2) Multivitamins.
3) Warm baths.
4) Swimming in the ocean.
