Hi Everyone!

I have been taking miralax daily to soften my stool. Recently, I have been thinking about incorporating protein shake or ensure plus into my daily meal routine as well because I would like to gain some weight. However, I'm not sure if drinking protein shake or ensure plus would increase the hardness of my stool or not. Hoping someone on the forum would know the answer to this question. Thanks for reading!

Start off slow, and see how it goes, Zizi. That is what I do with any change in my diet.

Zizi...personally I would stick with your own shake. The ensure has some milk products in it if I am not mistaken and lactose can be tough on the gut...personally I would avoid. You can simulate the ensure in terms of calories in your protein shake by adding some oils (flax, olive, canola...to your taste), throw in half an avocado and perhaps some almond butter. Also..with your own shake you can add great fibre like kale, spinach, mango, strawberries etc etc. that's my 2 cents...happy blending!

I was wondering the same thing. I called a dietician today and told her my story...and she suggested drinking Ensure Plus to gain some weight. I asked if it would harden my stools, and she said it shouldn't.

I'm not gaining weight even though I've increased my oil intake (I read somewhere that more oils can actually help you lose weight!!).
