Hello. New guy here.

Postby Jabbathrhutt » 20 Oct 2016, 03:42

Hello!
Ive had bleeding for just over a year, on and off, and had numerous examinations with various GPS. Also recently had an Mri and Sigmoidoscopy. Not heard results if Mri, but Sigmoidoscopy showed miles Diverticulitis, but nothing more.

My current issues began early in May when I began to get pain in my bottom. This went of for 13 weeks, but was just pain, no blood.

Literally two days after the Sigmoidoscopy I began to bleed, and have done after every BM since. There's enough blood to make the water in the bowel go red, but seems to be around 8 or 9 drips. Once I've cleaned up the bleeding seems to just stop. I have no pain following the BM.

Currently I'm using Rectogesic with no effect. I have tried another cream that was made to order, though I can't remember it's name. Think it was something like Dilitrium? Anyway, that stuff seemed to make the whole area far too soft and I ended up with sore buttocks and bruising.

I saw my GP last week who told me I had a fissure at the back of the rectum, and that she'd contact my Specialist to see if they'd see me again. She also told me that there was nothing more a GP could prescribe to cure my issue.

My worry is that the blood is not a fissure. Where can it be coming from only to stop so quickly following a BM? I'm also paranoid that I bleed in public and it shows through my clothes.
Whenever I've had bleeding before its only lasted 3 or 4 days.

Any advice, or tips on ending this nightmare would be greatly appreciated.

J

Hi J,

Welcome to the forum and thankyou for posting.
Sorry to hear of your story so far and it's one we see quite a lot! The cream you mention is most like Diltiazem - another way to get your muscles to relax back there to get more blood flow to enable healing.

It sounds to me from a remote perspetive that you do have a fissure which would explain the short sharp pain you experience. Everyone experiences fissures differently, some get no pain, some get pain on BM, some get pain after and some get a mix of all 3 depending on time of day/type of food/position of fissure.

The bleeding in public was an issue I occasionally had if I was sweaty and had a day walking, and had to use a pad for a while before I had a chance to see my CRS.

Keep your head up there is an end to all this, just keep posting here when you need to.

Good luck with the CRS, keep us posted.

Hello, and thank you for replying!
Over the past few months I think I've read everything there is online about fissure, but only discovered this forum today. It is comforting to know others suffer in the same way, and that I'm not alone.

I have read a lot on this forum about being tense and the back passage tightening due to anxiety before a bowel movement. How can I stop this?

Also, I'm still worried about how much blood there is each morning. If I compare the amount to maybe a cut from shaving, it would take a hell of a nasty cut to drip in the same manner.

I've also seen that people try and get a look at the fissure itself, maybe with mirrors or a smartphone camera. I'm almost too scared to see. Would people advise either doing it, or staying oblivious to it?

Every morning I hope it's the end of this, but every morning it's not. As I type now I have stomach ache, but there's no way I'm going to have a BM, I just can't cope with it right now.

Today I've used rectogesic and a little coconut oil. Can I use the Diltiazem as well? I still have some left from earlier on in the year.

Thank again for your message.

hello new guy here

Panic is the worst consultant. I know I had it. First hemos 4th grade for 20 years. Then hemos surgery after hemos infection with 2 months recovery time in nlood and pain. And few months ago a fissure that made want to suecide.

I am over all and I have a happy butt now. The key is patience. And some simple things:
Soft stool (diet and some duphalac for example)
Quick BM (dont take ur time give a quick pressure)
Some warm water wash afterwards
And last but not least coconut oil after BM or after a swim or a dusche. It keeps skin moisturised and mainly it feeds the skin (gives the skin among others and collagen)

And stay calm.... dont give it up it will heal the quastion is how.soon u succed

Thank you Chris. Being told it will heal is very helpful.

I type this as I'm sitting on the loo (I do apologise) as it's the only time I get alone in the day. I'm still bleeding , which is the 17th day in a row now. I'm still anxious, and still panicking before I 'go' each day. I still can't get my best around how much blood there is if it's nothing to worry about. My GP described the issue as a nusience, rather than anything to worry about.

I did try and get a look at the offending fissure but couldn't see anything. I think it's right on the sphincter itself.

I wish it was all over.

I know how u feel

Postby messis » 23 Oct 2016, 06:39

Hi J
17 days is much.less from what I went through This time my fissure it has been more tha 50 days with blood and pain. But the thing is that pain and blood went on and on, until a day came that it started slowly, very slow, to get better and better. Till it stopt complitly. When it stards healing you will notice it, its an amazing feeling.

Not to say that the other time after hemo surgery blood and pain went on for 2 full months. And the first month I was visiting the first aid dept. 2 times every 24 hours taking a painkiller injection!

Try telling ur self it doesnt matter the blood and the pain is going to get over as soon the pain killer works. Try to get over the stress which comes out of it. Believe me it helps.... good psyhology it really trully helps a lot!

Wish u feel better soon... let me know , I know what are u going through and I ll be happy for u as soon u start going better.

Postby messis » 24 Oct 2016, 11:58

There two kinds the bco and the fco.Virgin coconut oil snd fractionated. Many talk about the vco I used the fco.... its stronger! Its also called oil carrier and you find it in pharmacys not in supermarkets and grocerys as the vco
