Skin tags

Postby Jen » 15 Mar 2008, 14:29

My pain is almost completely gone and I have not had any bleeding. However, the area around where my fissure scar is inflamed and red. The skin on that side of my bum appears loose, as if there is no muscle tone. I wouldn't even call it a skin tag...just loose skin. However, it is not painful at all, and I really don't care what my bum looks like.
I just hope this is normal. Any comments?
For those of you with skin tags, did they ever go away on there own?

That sounds like my skin tag. Just put some vit E on it and take it easy. It should recede slowly over the next few months. It probably won't completely go away, but it will become less bothersome.

buttgirl,
Should I just buy over the counter vitamin E oil...is it safe for usage in that area?
Does this remind you of your skn tage that got infected?
I am so glad to hear your doing well! Happy healing! :D

Here is a thread that might be helpful to you about skin tags.

Here is another thread http://anal-fissure.org/general-anal-fissure-discussion-f2/healed-fissure-but-skin-tag-dilemma-t221.htm

Mine went away eventually using aloe vera or vitamin e. If it doesn't hurt, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Mine got infected because the fissure was leading right up to it, so it wasn't the tag itself, just hte tail end of the fissure.
the other thing I had that the drs said was a skin tag was an abscess. It hurt like crazy, would swell after a poo and reduce during the day, and was very hard. Skin tags are usually soft and spmewhat pliable, like a lump of flesh rather than an irritated pimple.
Vit e from the store should be fine. That's where I got mine from. It was cut with safflower oil. You can get vit e capsules (for taking internally) and pop them and apply to the area. these can cause a bit of irritation. likely not, they never did me, but people react differently....

Sounds fine to me. I find that as long as I take care of myself, my fissure recedes up into my bum and isn't visible. It doesn't cause any pain. I was kind of upset after my surgery that my surgeon didn't remove it, because I was worried about how it would look, but it's turned out fine.

I know this is late, but I've been using aloe vera for a while now and my skin tag has reduced a LOT. It's probably 1/3 of the size it was before. Unfortunately my fissure is still there so I'm not sure if it's a good thing that my skin tag is no longer protecting it, but it's good in that there's not always a mad irritation down there.. So aloe vera really helped with my skin tag
