Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with an anal fissure. The fissure happened about 2 weeks ago and I just went to see a colon rectal specialist. I believe this was brought on by one of the blood pressure medications that were causing constipation. I had a hard bowel movement and had a lot of blood come out. But a week later after a bowel movement I had very severe burning. The colon rectal specialist prescribe 0.2% nitroglycerin cream twice a day for me to insert it and to drink lots of water. I'm still having a tough time each day is different but I seem to have a problem after the bowel movements with the burning I've taken ibuprofen and I'm trying to eliminate any foods that will cause it. My cardiologist has switched me to a different medication. What else should I be doing in order for this to heal? I've heard that it could take up to 4 to 6 weeks for it to heal but I would like to avoid surgery at all costs.
