i've never tried milk of magnesia. i take 2 250mg stool softeners a day and drink a lot of water, so i don't have a problem with keeping things soft. no matter how soft it is, it doesn't seem to make a difference in the amount of pain after. if i go more than once a day though, it's usually more painful.
