Can you identify if the pics found herein is an anal fissure

Postby rocketphotos_227 » 17 Aug 2017, 20:45

WARNING: Picture of anus is attached. I apologize if I am not allowed to do this.

Used to bleed, but have started taking sitz bath with coconut oil and initially used preparation h, but have stopped.

Pic #1 is how it looked initially

Pic #2 is how it looks today. Can you identify if it looks like it healed or if it was even anal fissure?

Hi Rocket,
I'm no expert, but have first hand experience!
Yep - that looks like a classic fissure to me, and yes on the surface at least it seems to have healed. Are you still getting any issues? How long did it take to get to this point?

I am not getting as severe issues as I was before. I used to have blood in the water and bright red blood on the toilet paper once I wiped. Now, there isn't blood. It took me about 2 weeks of sitz baths with coconut to heal.

There are a couple of key points I want to mention that I wished I found in one post.

- Coconut oil in a tub with warm water for 15-30 minutes does wonder. Just need about 3-4 teaspoons
- I read somewhere that epsom salt in a sitz bath is a bad idea
- Use wipes and not tissue (preferably with aloe; I used prepation h wipes with aloe)
- I read somewhere that eating yogurt was actually bad to the healing process because it created more bacteria?
- Then eating too much insoluble fiber can be a bad thing because even though you will poop easier, it will be a bigger poop. so basically balance your intake
- If you poop in a squatted position it relieves pressure in the anus aiding in heal time

Thank you LemonMan for the response

Sounds like you are on the road to full recovery. It's so difficult to know what's good and not good (at least for me) - what works for some doesn't work for others. I guess it depends how bad your fissure is, and where it is, and other factors such as age, health etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and hope things continue to improve :-)
