How do yo know when your fissure has healed?

Postby Glorybee » 01 Sep 2017, 13:51

Seems like a silly question, but it's not like we can SEE the fissure (I guess some people can).

Does completely healed mean no pain whatsoever? If your pain has decreased and you are using less of the Nifedipine, does that mean you are healing?

It seems these days, I only have pain immediately after a BM and it doesn't last nearly as long as it used to.
How did you know you were healed?

Thoughts?

Hi Glorybee,
I'd say you are completely healed when you have gone a year with no symptoms what-so-ever. According to my CRS medications like Nifedipine, Diltiazem, Nitro Glycerine etc can just treat the symptoms. You only know after you have been off them for a while that you are healed. I see many people who claim to be healed after a couple of weeks, but I suspect this is more the case of masking the problem, or the problem was relatively superficial to begin with (if still majorly painful) I hope I haven't been too much downer for you! :-) Whatever your situation I hope you are doing well.
Best, LM

Thanks LemonMan! That actually makes me feel better. There is still hope! As longs as things keep moving in the right direction. Although, a year is a long time....
