nitroglycerin and nifedipine for chronic fissure

Postby anna » 16 Oct 2017, 08:56

Hello! Thank you for this support forum. I have some questions, can you help?
Will nitroglycerin ointment work for chronic fissure with skin tag? Did anyone in this situation was healed? What about nifedipine cream ? Or they are only for non-chronic fissure? Thank you for support !

Hello back. Nitro cream for me worked great. It took a little while to completely heal and after applying it gave me a headache every time. But to finally get rid of the burning pain was awesome. Not familiar with the other.

Nifedipine is a good option too and doesn't cause the headaches that nitro is famous for. How long have you had a fissure for?
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I first used diltiazem but apparently I was allergic to it and it caused a rash, so I had to switch to nifedipine. Nifedipine worked to alleviate symptoms but didn't entirely stop them, and now it seems to be less effective than before. Next thing I will try is nitro cream.

have it for 3-4 years. I went to doctor when it was too late and it was chronic. I visited 3 doctors by now. They did not help really...Our doctors dont know about nitro, nifedipine or deltiazem, because pharmacies don't sell this things. I found only some homemade nitro ointment to buy online. I dont really know what to do with my fissure. Should I go for surgery? I dont know...

Stay away from surgery if possible. I got 100% healed with nitro cream but I am in the U.S. so a script that any pharmacy can fill here was easy. Don't know if your doc can write a script that you can get filled in another country? looks like you have some research to do. There are on line pharmacies I would try to do research on. Canadian Pharmacy On Line, USA Pharmacy, as well as others. Makes me thankful for the American health care system here even as screwed up as it is.

3-4 years is a long time. I'm not sure how it will heal with ointments at this stage. Do doctors offer Botox for fissures in your country?
