Medication Tips

Postby jack_attack29 » 27 May 2018, 13:48

I was prescribed analpram before I was prescribed nifedipin and my doctor said I could just use the nifedipin or both, it was up to me. I haven't noticed any change and it's been 2 weeks and I would like to start using both. Does anyone have any advice on the best routine for applying? I currently use the nifedipin before I go to the bathroom and once I have taken my sitz sitz bath and then two other times during the day/evening. How long shoulf i wait to apply the analpram?

3/21- occurred but was misdiagnosed as a hemmoroid. Due to delivering my son.
5/14 - diagnosed with anal fissure
6/1 - LIS is scheduled

What medication is analpram made up of? It looks like from your status that your surgery is already scheduled. Are you trying to heal yourself with non surgical options? I followed a similar nifedipine routine last year. Once before a BM, then afternoon, evening and night.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

Hey,

Analpram contains pramoxine, an anesthetic that works by temporarily numbing the area, also contains hydrocortisone.

My doctor wanted to give my fissure a little more time to see if it would heal, which I agreed to, but I also asked to schedule the surgery incase the medication didn’t work.

I wasn’t sure if I should wait a period of time before applying the Analpram. The nifedipine is an ointment and Analpram is a cream. What I’ve been doing is applying the nifedipine after my BM and sitz bath, waiting a few hours, and then applying the Analpram. I wasn’t sure if there was a better routine someone could recommend.

I’m not even sure what I should consider as signs of healing. haven’t had any blood for 3 days, but the spasms are still occurring for many hours (around 5 hours usually) and the fissure pain is off and on all day. It looks like I will be having the surgery.

Are you seeing a general surgeon or a colorectal specialist? Hydrocortisone is of no use for healing a fissure because it thins out the tissues. I'm surprised that was even prescribed as a treatment. Are you planning on having more children in the future? It might be better to postpone the surgery until you are done having children. Just my 2 cents. I understand that the pain of a fissure makes it nearly impossible to delay treatment.

I was first sent to a gastroenterologist and then a CRS.

After this experience I am terrified to have another baby. It was so hard to be in so much pain and have it affect my entire maternity leave. I feel like my fissure stole a very important time from me.

I am hoping that I will recover enough to enjoy a week or so with my baby pain free before I head back to work on the 25th.
