Nifedipine Cream

Postby Gray » 08 Aug 2018, 10:27

So, my CRS prescribed me nifedipine cream to use on my anal fissure. I started using it last Friday and I seem to be bleeding more during BMs. Is this normal?

I will be 3 weeks post skin tag removal with a nasty fissure. Using the Nifedepine cream compounded with Lidocaine 3x/day. Still some bleeding with BM but I have added coconut oil applications between Nifedepine doses. Still sitzing 2x/day. Supposed to use Nifedepine for 6 weeks. Slow process

I haven't used this cream, but has anyone experienced a rash or burning sensation while using this cream?

SDK96, how long did it take to start working? My bleeding has calmed down now. And my doctor seemed to think it was just from the area getting more blood flow from the nifedipine working.

Honestly it started working within a day or two. Combined with taking restoralax to soften stool. My bleeding and pain stopped immediately.

Thanks sdk96. I'm just at two weeks with the cream today. Not a great day as far as pain/burning goes but better than before this cream. I was on a steroid cream for 4 weeks b/c I was misdiagnosed by a different doctor. Finally got in to see a CRS and she was like they're wrong its a fissure. So I guess the delay in the rights medication made things worse and didn't let it heal. Fingers crossed it works.

I am 4 weeks into using it. Still have small amount of bleeding although not every BM. Pain is gone. Consistently using it three times daily. Never had any burning or stinging pain from Nifedepine cream

Thanks bukeyemama. I'm on my 3rd week of the nifedipine cream and I'm still bleeding on almost every BM. Not as much as initially and the pain is getting better but the burning is still there.
