Urgently need advice

Postby abaca234 » 16 Aug 2018, 19:44

My partner has been severely constipated since coming out of hospital 9 days ago. Pretty sure it is faecal impaction. Went to Dr who diagnosed an anal fissure, gave cream for pain, and advised her to eat lots of fruit and veg. Have phoned GP surgery up twice since, and they have simply prescribed alternative creams/gels.
She is unable to do anything. She spends her time going between the toilet, bath and bed, She says it feels like there are two large hard poos there that are too large to come out. She has managed to get some small bits of the hard poo out by massaging her perineum. But it hurts even to wee because of the pressure created.
I feel like she can't go on like this. She can't take things like movical because of the reason for the hospitalisation. She has been using glycerine suppositories, but they have not helped much. She is in excrutiating pain at times. I hear her moaning in pain when trying to poo and for sometime afterwards.
She is not hungry, but I have been feeding her soup with vegetables, fruit and vegetable juice, fruit, wholemeal bread, and oat bars. She has also been drinking lots of water.
Please what can we do to resolve this?

Oh my sorry to hear has she seen a doctor or been to the emergency about this?

I'm not a medical professional but maybe an enema? Prune juice lots of water prunes?

I've heard of some going in a warm sitz bath something to relax the mind and muscles being tense can add to constipation I hope she gets some help and relief soon!

Yes she went to the Dr who diagnosed an anal fissure and told her to eat lots of fibre. But nothing has improved. And yes she is taking lots and lots of shallow baths.

When was the last time she had a bowel movement? And do you know if it was hard or soft or runny liquid?

Since coming out of hospital, a couple of times a day, very small and hard. No soft ones.

If this is the case, what leads you to believe she is constipated, and even moreso fecally impacted?

Because they are so tiny, very hard, and she says she can feel too big poos inside her pressing. The tiny poos she has done are with help of massaging of the perineum and glycerin suppositories.
