Still getting anal pain... why why why !?

Postby NikkiB69 » 22 Feb 2019, 11:01

Had fissure for just over 2 years. I'm much better than before, but still having some issues. I feel like the fissure is healed but i get some horrible aching internally (sphincter/anus?). It's not constant. It's like a dull ache which last a few seconds then goes away. On and off throughout the day. Some days worse than others. It comes and goes. Similar aching pain when i have a BM (but that's better than it used to be too) It seems worse when i'm stressed/nervous/anxious etc. I've recently rejoined the gym and been going quite a bit, trying to take it easy but i push myself quite hard (don't really get pain during the exercise)... wonder if i've overdone it(??!) I hate being ruled by this thing!!!! It really does affect so much of my life. Even though i think the fissure is gone, it's like there's something still going on up there....... : (
Any advice? Anyone?.... THANKS

Hey Nikki, we all go through this from time to time. It might be even nerve memory at play sometimes, if you used to have big pain in the past.
Unofrtunately, it does affect our lives and I, personnaly, work with myself to embrace this as way of leaving. My life will never be the same as "before" and I need to adapt to the reality of it. There are good days, for which I am grateful to God, and there are bad days when I try to lift myself up saying that they will pass and the good days will be back soon.
Exercise is very good and I encourage you to keep doing it as it has many health benefits - and remember, we need to heal from within.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it helps that i get anxiety (diagnosed general anxiety/panic disorder) as this definitely effects me mentally and physically... I'm sure this includes internal muscle tension! I do a lot to try to help myself with this, but unfortunately the very nature of the pain and its location causes me a lot of anxiety... I sometimes feel quite scared about what the pain and why I'm still suffering after all this time!! : ((((

Hi nikki I just messaged you but also watched a video recently about Dr John Sarno who explains mostly all chronic pain and discomfort stems from emotions which triggers actual pain and discomfort but also if prone to anxiety and worry about health it causes it to linger so his advice is to constantly reaffirm your healed and to live like before you had this — dismiss the pain as being caused by the fissure simce the fissure is healed So when we worry it causes oxygen deprivation just a slight bit can feel worse then it actual is —especially in this area — it makes sense — when we learn to relax and train the brain that everything is fine it will ease away — slowly but surely — since any type of —surgery to the area or pelvic floor injury can trigger this the worrying about it seems to keep it going — so the more your thoughts dismissi it - the less it will recur .
It’s just the length of time having this makes it seem more troubling then it really is ! So I estimate in 60 days this should be totally gone ! If you would like the YouTube channel
Link let me know ! This thing is on its way out I spoke to the dr in LA who confirmed even though it takes time it goes go away completely so do not worry !!!

Hello Nikki, you sound similar to me. I've just had four days of no discomfort then today aching and soreness where my healed fissure was started up. No reason same bm as normal.
I also go to the gym and do Pilates and I agree it is important.
I'm seeing a physio to try pelvic floor therapy next week. I can let you know how it goes if you like.
I also get pain into the buttock and sciatica down that side. Im. Hoping that might be eased with this therapy.
Hoping mamafizz is right and this is kind of in the head pain. I have read a lot of Dr sarno's ideas online and it makes sense.

Hi SueMac and Nikki,

I've been going through something similar as yours. My soreness/ ache/ twinges come and goes throughout the day but there is constant awareness. What I find surprising is that this does not originate from the fissure site but from different parts of the anus. Is it possible that I'm still having spasms in spite of fissure being almost healed? Did any of you meet a pelvic floor therapist?

Hi Hope I am seeing a pelvic floor specialist tomorrow. I will report back to this post on what happens. I tend to get the pain in the fissure site which then radiates outward. I used to get a golf ball higher up feeling too which I think is spasms. I don't get that now. I think it is more than likely spasm s are still occurring after speaking to people on this forum long after fissure declared healed. I think the nerves take a while to settle.
Anyway I shall feed back now it goes tomorrow.

Thanks, let us know how it goes. I'm wondering if these are the connected levator muscles acting up or still the sphincter spasming.

Hope just to let you know I saw the pelvic floor person first session. She did some internal work. I won’t go into it here but you can pm me if you like and I can share more. Some of it was uncomfortable and now I feel sore but I’m hoping that might improve. I go back in three weeks.

She seemed very knowledgeable and found all the source of my pain easily. She is very positive of a good outcome, early days yet.
How are you getting on?
