LIS with tag removal 2nd of July!

Postby tightbutt5678 » 03 Jul 2019, 08:42

So it is post op Day 1 after my surgery yesterday: LIS with tag removal!

Good things:
- Doctors and nurses were lovely, the whole surgery and hospital experience was very pleasant!
- Have felt zero pain so far and am only on panadol which is a very mild pain killer. I am actually just taking it as a precaution to get ahead of the pain in case it arises.
- I definitely needed surgery as the fissure was supposedly quite deep
- walking is all good, even sitting is fine but am avoiding it to avoid putting pressure on the area
- I have an excuse to absolutely binge watch series :p

Not so good things:
- First BM has not come and I am very nervous about it! Am hoping for tomorrow morning. I have taken extra stool softeners so here's hoping it doesn't result in explosive diarrhoea!
- I was literally dancing in the bathroom next to the loo to try and get it all moving but still nothing! This is what my life has come to lol.

So crossing my fingers for tomorrow!!

- Tried all of the creams, perfecting the diet, self dilation
- Reduced symptoms significantly but still not healed
- July 2019 : LIS with tag removal

Thanks appleapple! I am on day 2 and only had the tiniest BM so far but I don't really count it as it was like 3-4cm long. At least there was no pain with it. I am wondering what to do to get the rest out... Maybe a stimulant laxative? I have tried all the gentle options - miralax , diet etc. Unsure of what to do next.

It's all good, I went! First dreaded BM is out of the way and it was only pain level 1. Yay! :D

Post op day 2:

First real BM finally happened!! It was gigantic. Biggest I’d ever seen I think. But pain level was only 1/10 so am very pleased! Usually a monster of a BM like that would have me in tears and spasms all day! Today I’ve just taken two ibuprofen out of precaution but haven't felt the need to take it actually. Currently in the sitz bath listening to Stevie Wonder. I spent the day lying in the sun, chatting to friends on the phone and reading. It has been a great day! :)

Haha yes, cannot wait until that perfect bum day!

Post op Day 3:

Woke up with zero soreness or pain and shortly after went for my BM which was quite big again but only pain level 1. Happy with that! Spent the day in the sun again, only took 2 ibuprofens as a precaution but didn't feel the need. I also got my period today so wanted to take something before the period cramps started. Walking around feels fine, sitting feels fine but still avoiding. No incontinence, no bleeding other than a tiny bit of spotting on my sanitary pad. Taking sitz baths around 3-4 times per day to keep things clean then drying with a hairdryer. Everything seems to be going great! Nothing too interesting to report! :)

Post op day 5! I forgot to post yesterday but it was basically the same as day 3.

-Woke up at 8.30am, drank loads of warm water, ginger tea and relaxed with some nice music.
- 10.30am BM : Soft, easy and TOTALLY PAIN FREE!
- I took one extra magnesium citrate last night so that definitely helped.
- So happy!
- Also important to note, I've had zero incontinence since surgery. My gas is also very silent and gentle when coming out. I actually like it! Haha.

Happy days so far! :D

Thanks appleapple, I am over the moon with how well recovery is going so far. It's unreal.

Day 6 post op:

- Painless BM again, yay!
- Shower after and a sitz bath
- Went for an uphill, hour-long walk the last two days. Walking at a fast pace feels great and I haven't felt any discomfort. I will wait a little longer before intense workouts.
- I am considering flying north up to Cairns for a little beach get away but am nervous about traveling too early. Will see.
- I looked at the area 2 days ago and it looks pretty decent. I have a bruise where the LIS incision was made, my fissure is still there and another new wound where tag removal happened. It actually blows my mind that with three open wounds I am having painless BMs. I guess the LIS incision relaxes the area enough for things to just fall out easily. But still no incontinence whatsoever so it's pretty neat!
- I'm not taking any painkiller except when I remember to pop a panadol or ibuprofen but I don't think I need it at all. Just taking as precaution still.
- I will try to decrease stool softener very slightly gradually to ease my way into more formed BMs. Right now I'm on kind of bristol type 5 but type 4 would be good to achieve soon I think.
