Re: April 2019 - now (almost healed!! in maintenance mode!)

8/31/2019 Saturday

This week has been good! On the way up =)

BM is becoming more and more "sensation"-less - which is good. Post-BM discomfort/tightness is just about completely gone.
I'm now almost certain the "ridge" the CRS felt last week during my 6-week checkup (which he declared as the fissure itself) is just extra tissue related to my hem, and the pain I was still feeling in the past few weeks is some sort of inflammation/swelling.

I still do my butt cheek test (by spreading the butt cheeks with my hands and see what I feel) - and I feel almost nothing no matter how hard I pull.

Also still do my finger test (when applying cream into the canal, I apply pressure to the anal canal walls to see where it hurts) - also feel basically nothing now.

I have no conclusive proof but really felt like topical antibiotics (Neosporin) have helped with the last few weeks of healing.

That's awesome! Very happy that you're in a healed state now. Just keep up the routine even if you're tired of it, the tissues need to build up resilience.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

patience and healing: thank you!

9/15/2019 Sunday

Another pain free week. I saw a little blood of TP on Wed-Friday but no pain. Not sure if it is due to the fissure or the hems. Still supporting my butt cheek during a BM. I think I'm strong enough to handle more formed stool now so I started taking Metamucil (1 capsule a day for now).

Next week I have to travel and be in a different city all week for work. Hope the traveling doesn't mess me up.

9/25/2019 Wed.

Pain free streak continues. Got period last week so hems were acting up a bit. The blood made me nervous for a few days but it wasn't blood from the fissure. Also traveled last week. Turned out fine.

I'm going off Miralax and adding Metamucil to my routine now.

Fingers crossed. Sending off healing vibes to everyone!

10/8/2019 Tuesday

I re-tore a bit with a bad BM yesterday morning due to a combo of carelessness:
- ate spicy lamb last Friday
- didn't drink enough water Saturday and Sunday
- skipped Miralax
No spasms yet and doesn't really interfere with life but definitely feeling the burning discomfort after BM.
Being extra careful now so hopefully I can rebound from this fairly quickly.

10/20/2019 Sunday

Feel like taking one step back after the bad stool I mentioned in my last update.

No spasms so no real interruption to normal life yet, but BM involves scraping pain (during) and a sore as* hole for a few hours after BM. It felt like that the hard stool re-opened the fissure on the posterior left, so after that I've been supporting my left bum when passing stool, and then a few days after that the sore spot moved to the right, and it felt very similar to how I felt back in August. Back then, I started using Neosporin, which seemed to help a lot, but this time, I've using Neosporin on the sore/swollen spot on the right for 3 days, and not much difference.

Keeping an watchful eye since I have to travel in two weeks.

Honestly I'm starting to consider getting Botox or surgery. Can't it drag on like this.

appleapple - very sorry to hear this! Hope you are able to recover quickly. I use Desitin (zinc oxide) whenever I retear and that seems to calm things down a bit. Also increasing my dose of water / probiotic / magnesium / fiber to prevent tearing even further.

Sorry to hear that too. It definitely feels like a constant state of making progress then regressing. I hope things settle down for you!
