New year rant

Postby patience_and_healing » 31 Dec 2019, 11:27

A new year is on the horizon and my butt still isn't back to where it was three years ago. Sometimes I can't believe this is my reality, every morning is a gamble on whether I'll be in pain or not. Now I'm on holiday and haven't been able to keep up with my dilation exercises due to lack of privacy, and the burning pain post BMs is back. It's better than it used to be, so that's something. I can't wait to be back home soon and get back to where I was just two weeks ago. Sorry for the rant but no one else really gets it except for the folks on here. Wishing you all a pain free new year. :smilyhug:
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.

Patience - feel free to rant all you like. Holidays make me constipated we’ll flights do - had a recent short break and got totally constipated which is so upsetting even with taking my movicol. As for no privacy I also totally understand how your routine is messed up - when others are enjoying a break it’s upsetting that you are not and struggling.
I am still seeing my pelvic floor lady which is very good but I don’t make much progress. My GP has me on amitripyline I have been on 50mg for 11 days now. Worked up from 25mg. It helps my sleep massively but no help for pain yet. Or my nerves yet! I will report back as to whether this helps me - I may still increase this dose if the gp lets me. I also may try another drug if this doesn’t help.
I dislike thought of medicine but I feel driven to this now as daily post bm soreness and sciatica in my buttock is just getting me so down.
I hope things improve for you soon. Do you see your pelvic floor person anymore?

This is definitely the place to be, to rant about all things backside-related!

I will wish everyone on the board a happy and healthier New Year. Whether it's our backsides or anything else, let's keep our fingers crossed for good, or better, health in 2020.

@suemac: Sorry to hear your progress is stalled. I wonder if gabapentin would be helpful for you since you have nerve pain. I'm still seeing the pelvic floor PT, and I find a reduction in pain after a visit. But I need to keep up the progress with daily home exercises. She has suggested seeing a chiropractor for a second opinion.

@chachacha, dmcff: Thank you for your kind words. I wish you both good health in the coming year as well.

Hi patience and others on this thread!
Well the 50mg amiltripyline is actually working! It took almost three weeks but I am in less pain. The sciatica is still there but wound down from a 6 or 7 out of 10 to a 1 or 2!!! My post bm soreness is also still there but actually disappears around two hours after a bm. Thank
You patience for suggestion of gabapentin- I have heard of this and agree it could be an option. For now I will stick to the ami and see, I am also seeing my pelvic floor lady along side.
How is everyone doing??

It's good to hear that the amitriptyline is helping you. I hope the post BM soreness continues to reduce.

Thanks patience - I think I will need to be on this drug for a few months, or maybe more before hopefully weaning off. I continue to struggle with hard BMs and I tihnk i will be on movicol for life. But its a low dose.
how are you??

I'm doing all right, had a few sore days but I've increased my water intake so hopefully that will help.
