Great. I'm (obviously) not a medical practitioner, and can only share my own experiences, but the more experiences we have on the forum, the more helpful it can be to those who come after us. This thread will surely benefit many, down the road.

Well....I’ve got 3 different pain meds now(one is ibuprofen). And I’m supposed to ice it and try to stay off my feet.

If that doesn’t take the swelling down, I need a hemorroidectomy.

Excision wouldn’t work because this isn’t primarily a clotting problem - its a swelling of the whole anal wall, basically.

Ugh. I’m pretty crushed. This is a nightmare.

I had all anal wall columns removed during my hemorrhoidectomy. I guess that what you have protruding, is just an extension of those.

I'm sorry that this wasn't the news you were hoping for, but you still have a chance to avoid the knife. I hope that the meds, and the ice do the trick. If you do go the surgical route though, I'll give you a list of things that you should do beforehand, to make the recovery easier.

I am in less discomfort, but the size of what is prolapsed does not seem to have changed much, if at all. I mean, length wise? It goes from the tip of my index finger to my second knuckle. It covers from the very front to the very back of my anus on the entire left side. At this point I’m kinda resigned to having surgery. Calling the doctor Monday morning.

Oh. That sounds like grade 4 hemorrhoids, and yes, the only treatment would be surgery.

Once you set things up, I'll give you some really helpful suggestions that were given to me before my surgery.

Keep me posted.

What I don’t understand and what I forgot to ask my CRS....is what changed after the banding/Botox to cause this? I could always push this back in before and it would stay in. What changed to make it so I can’t push it in?

Million dollar question.

My guess though, is that he changed the "configuration" in the area by banding the other hemorrhoids, and they're no longer helping to hold in the ones that now protrude, or the Botox has numbed the area so your own body can no longer hold them in once you re-insert them. The former is my preferred guess though, because from what I understand, the effect of Botox takes a week or two to kick in.

Makes sense. I won’t lie- I’m terrified of the pain that a hemorrhoidectomy will surely cause - and of any potential complications. At the same time - I can’t lie on the couch all day long icing myself, unable to sit, drive a car, exercise, etc. for the rest of my life(I’m only 37)either. So, I pretty much have to do it.

You said that you were going to call your surgeon on Monday? Did he say how soon he'd be able to fit you in, if you decided to go through with it?
