Hi All
I found this site 4 days ago and so wished I found this months ago. I had my first chronic fissure 13 months ago and was put on Diltiazem for 2 months and didn't really help so then had botox under general anesthetic which i was 2 months painfree. Followup in mid September the surgeon suggested I take Physillum but didn't advise me to hydrate well hence pain came back. I've tried homepathics etc. But after reading this site I have scooled myself up.
I don't get constipated normally but if my bm is loose I have alot more pain. Any suggestions on this please and also acupunture?

Loose BMs cause more pain because they are acidic and get into the wound. You can try a barrier cream like Vaseline or calmoseptine before a BM. Does the surgeon have any further suggestions for you besides Botox? I don't believe acupuncture can heal a fissure, I have tried it for other purposes though.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.

I'm seeing the surgeon in 4 weeks so will converse then. My pain is in the morning till noon. Not bad in the afternoons. People talk of spasms. How is that different from pain? Also I have Physillum in morning and slippery elm at bedtime. I wonder if that is making me looser.
I use a calendula salve at night and after bm.
This week I've been doing gentle internal massage trying to locate the fissure and to relax the spincture.

Spasms can take different forms like burning, stabbing, or sudden tightness. Psyllium should reduce loose BMs, but I don't know how slippery elm works.

Thankyou.
I thought that was what spasms were.
How is your progress?

I'm doing good, thank you. My chronic fissure healed long ago. These days it's more of a struggle to prevent recurring fissures from constipation. I'm trying acacia fiber to help make BMs more regular.

Pelvic physio was incredibly helpful for the persistent nerve pain. Botox and nerve blocks helped as well.
