My main anal fissure is at the area of skin between my butt cheeks, about three inches above my anus. My main anal fissure is between the butt cheeks right next to my lower back.

I know that LIS will usually heal anal fissures right on the anus itself. I believe I have more mild fissures right on my anus itself. But probably 75+% of my anal fissure pain/itch/discomfort comes from the fissure about three inches above my anus. I got this fissure above my anus from excessively hard wiping after bowel movements.

It's my understanding that LIS surgery increases blood flow to the anal sphincter, which promotes healing right on the anus. Will LIS help heal a fissure about three inches above the anus?

Has your doctor defined this as an ANAL fissure? It sounds more like it is a skin issue away from your anus. Can your doctor prescribe something that would help to heal that/those wounds?

No.

That's because it is a skin issue away from my anus. I didn't know about the existence of pilonidal cysts and intergluteal cleft irritation when I created this thread about a week ago. My problem three inches above my anus is not an anal fissure.

Can your doctor prescribe something that would help to heal that/those wounds?

I don't know. I hope so. I'm going to a colorectal surgeon tomorrow.

How did the appointment go? I hope that the surgeon has a plan of action for you.
