Will try again, I had the LIS surgery performed as scheduled on Monday morning the 27th. The doctor came by before the operation and again explained what was going to be done and what to expect. All went as planned and I stayed in the hospital for observation for one night, my choice. I was given a IV drip with added medication for the expected pain and some antibiotics. The Doctor came by at 7:30pm and again explained everything and said he would be back in the morning. Saw him at 7:30am, he removed the bandages and examined the area. Explained that all had gone well and explained what to expect at home, what to eat, drink, exercise and what I should be feeling for the 1st week 2nd week up to 6 weeks. Also provided me with a complete written report stating the same and explained some exercises that I should be doing to help recovery, which was just tightening the cheeks together for a count of 5 for 5 times several times a day. I will see him on Monday the 6th for a follow up appointment and will have a better idea how things are progressing. I had very little pain in the 1st 3 days post surgery until the first BM. But the pain was definitely less than before and seems to only due to the swelling. Had some leakage on the 1st dat following surgery due to the passing of extra gas. Since then only minor stains and less gas. I take a mild pain killer for 7 days, which I don’t really need and a softener which is more of a mental thing for me but it works. Also have a warm bath 3 times a day. The big change was drinking 3 to 4 litres of water a day which is probably twice my normal intake, which probably contributed to my fissure issue. Fibre I already consume more than the recommended amount as I’m a vegetarian. I’ve also been able to start back in my exercise routine, but a lot less, 30 min yoga, slow walks of up to 5 kilometres but no resistance training until the doctor gives me the ok. Overall I’m extremely happy to have gone through with the LIS and thanks for the recommendation on using the specialist, it really helped clear up my hesitation on the process. I will let you know what the Doctor says tomorrow after my follow up appointment. Once again Muchas Gracias for the comments and specialist recommendation. EMD23

Sounds good. I would have refused the IV with medication though. The pain was not worse than the fissure.
