A helpful cream

Postby dmcff » 05 Jul 2023, 04:56

I've been trying the Pranicura cream, and find that it does temporarily relieve the itching, burning and discomfort (sometimes known as pruritus ani) that accompanies anal fissure. So far, at any rate, it hasn't made things any worse, and I may continue using it.

The cream's active ingredients are

Glycerin 25%
Kaolin 12.5%
Calamine 12.5%
Menthol 1%

The first three of those ingredients are familiar to me, as my mother used them on us for various purposes as children in Scotland back in the 1950s!

Ahh that’s interesting. It’s what Dr Cheung recommends in his YouTube channel. Keep us updated. I’m sick of buying GTN at a vast cost at some point I need to use something else. A year of GTN now!

Unfortunately Pranicura is not exactly cheap either - 49.99 USD a jar - but a little does go a long way.

So far I haven't found that it does any actual harm :).

Dr. Chung mentions a 30-day challenge, so maybe that is what to aim for.

The menthol part worries me!! I don’t want any more burning… apparently dr Cheung is sponsored by Pranicura. Doesn’t mean it’s no good tho. Is it soothing? Or does it burn?

I find that it's soothing, and the soothing effect lasts for a couple of hours. It's early days for me yet, though - will need to see how I get on with it over the next couple of weeks.

Dr. Chung clearly has some connection with Pranicura, but as you point out, that doesn't mean that the cream is worthless. I'm struck by how well Pranicura fits into Dr. Chung's general proctological mission, which is quite a brave and compassionate, if possibly quixotic, enterprise.

I'm glad the pranicura is helping you dmcff. I on the contrary found it caused me more itching and irritation, so I abandoned it. I'm back to using Vmagic and occasional stretching on the area which helps with discomfort.
