Endometriosis ???

Postby Fissulyna » 20 Jun 2008, 21:23

I got my period yesterday and my colon was reacting to it as always as did the consistency of my poop (it always hardens up just before and during my period). Today I even felt stubbing pain deep inside during BM and remembered that I had that happening for many years now : (. I just never paid attention to it since I had no other problems with my GI system or neighboring set of of organs (except extremely heavy periods) So, I did a little research and this is what I found !!! I will definitely look into endometriosis as possible underlying condition for me. I just need to find very good OB/GYN now !!! Thought other girls might want to know about this possibility, especially since there are a few here that have worsening symptoms during their period.
"Endometriosis implants may be found on or in the bowel wall. How common is this? Reports of the incidence of intestinal involvement of endometriosis range from 3 to 34%; conservative estimates range from 5 to 10%. The hallmark of the diagnosis of intestinal endometriosis is that a woman has significant GI symptoms that vary with her menstrual cycle. The symptoms may be present only at the time of the menstrual period or they may be present all month long and worsen at the time of the period. The most common symptoms include loss of appetite, nausea (vomiting is rare), diarrhea, increased gas, significant bloating, crampy abdominal pain, painful bowel movements, and sharp stabbing rectal pain. Many women also complain of constipation that seems to vary with the menstrual cycle. Unexplained iron-deficiency anemia may also be a clue to the presence of intestinal endometriosis. Another clue is rectal bleeding that is associated with menstruation."

Thanks for the info, Fiss. I have every one one of those symptoms. I got my period the day before yesterday. I wonder how they diagnose it, if they have to do exploratory surgery. I will definitely mention it at my next appt. My uterus tips back into my rectum so I wonder if that causes problems. You are always so good to share new info with us!

The primrose does help-so if you haven't yet tried it I would really recommend it.

Hi all Image
I am glad that you all find it interesting too, (you too Garret LOL). Lecia-baby
we are still "in a sink" - this is soooo funny :truebud: , and our sweet Val does not have to worry about periods any more Image (btw what is Premtis, buddy ?). Tabby Image - thanks for asking - LOL, you know what - I try not to think of how I am doing ha ha, or I will go nuts - I now pretend that my body belongs to somebody else and that I am just "tending" it until I get a better one in my next life Image. I have my regular app. with oral pathologist for my nerve damage problem in my mouth and I am wondering what can I stick up my V that will hold the flooding for 2 hours without major "incident" . You know- those "burka" women are really smart actually - they do not have to worry about hair, make-up, or what to wear EVER and can have no panties or put a whole pack of "Stay-Free"s in there and nobody would ever know. Anyway -sorry for digression, and I apologize to the boys if they are grossed out - but HEY - what are you doing in this thread Image.
So, where was I,...aha, yes, endometriosis. My uterus is tilted too and it would make "implants" very probable around the colon - it is just a bummer that laparoscopy is the ONLY way to see them clearly and it is a kind of surgery. My OB/GYN mentioned long time ago that I might have it because my periods are so painful but I was scared of the procedure and "escaped" it- now I wonder that maybe it is a time to have
it Image. To be honest - I would be happy to have everything removed
LOL, and be done with periods and contraceptives and other stupidities that go together with that set of organs Image . I have to find new GYN since I just left mine due to his senility ( he mixed me up with somebody that wanted to get pregnant and could not - so he almost prescribed me some fertility drugs I guess :pale: - just what I need right now Image ) and I will do that , I hope, next week. I would definitely keep you posted !
Take care my buddies and :prayforme: as I do for you all Image

Premtis is just a supplement which has all good stuff in for PMT- and it does really work, its brilliant! :D
I have had 2 laparoscopies done and they're not that bad, although you get a scar on your belly button! I dont think they sewed me up very neatly!!!

I cannot believe that we all have so many similar probs!! I suffered with endo for years. Very painful and had to wait until I "matured" for it to go away. Also had 2 laparoscopies in order to get a diagnosis. Maybe there is a genetic predisposition for both endo and AF's, but then why do males get AF's also? Anyways, a couple good things about getting older--retirement and end of endo.
