Lecia baby - don't take Labradudle !!!!!! They are mutts and they are NOT hypoallergenic - no matter what the breeder of those mutts
tells you !!!! In same litter you might have complete different combo of genes - so they even shed AND smell like labradors - PLEASE don't go that way - you might end with sickly dog, that is far
from being hypoallergenic. Cats are never hypoallergenic since humans are allergic to their saliva and not fur !!!! So - there are couple of more dog breeds that are hypoallergenic - like Ariedele Terrier , Bichon Frise, Coton De Tulier, Dandie Terrier, Havanese,Maltese and some other - BUT - if you want intelligence , no shading, and no smell and loyalty beyond compare -take standard or miniature poodle - PERIOD !!! Standard are more docile than miniature, but again, standard needs some exercise out while miniature can have some inside. ALSO - never, ever buy a puppy from breeder that does not test dogs for all genetic diseases or you will end up like Happy, with adorable but sick puppy. Initial investment may look HUGE ( like 1.500 $ for standard poodle ), but you will get a healthy dog WITH WARRANTY , so if anything goes wrong , breeder will take dog back and replace it with a healthy puppy and will definitely help with ANY issue you might have with a puppy. Even if you want to return it, you will get full refund. If you need some contacts - I would be more than happy to provide you with those. I have personal friends who breed poodles and show them and have many champions !!!!
Also, conceder getting an older dog (like 6 months old) - that is already house trained and all.
Best of luck buddy - I also wish I have a puppy !!!

Hey doglovers!
OKay, I got over my initial embarrassment of Pen island. I like black ink!

So, we are thinking that as a family it might boost morale to get a puppy and for me to have a cuddler when I am feeling blue or in pain. Because Mr. Lecia is allergic we are looking into breeds that are hypoallergenic. I grew up with toy poodles, but would like to see what else is out there. A friend of mine had a coton de tulier, the national dog of Madagascar. So cute, but all that hair, my goodness, looks high maintenance. My girls are looking at a yorkie or maltese. We want something small. Are the miniature poodles bigger than the toy poodles? I would be interested in how to find a reputable breeder either in Atlanta, GA or Greenville, SC. I would get a pound puppy but it isn't fair to run my husband out of the home.
I think I can only spend about $500 though.

Fissy, do you have dogs? Why not get a little puppy?

Have you ever tinkled on the seat and not wiped it up?

Lecia -buddy - toy is much smaller than a miniature and stay away from it - nervous little yuppy dogs with lots of health problems since they made them dwarfs selectively. Try to read as much as possible about breads that you conceder , invest in some books - trust me, better know what you are getting into before you jump in. Especially
pay attention to genetic diseases because they are not visible until puppy is about one to 2 years old, and than what ??? You do not need to go through thousands of dollars of vet bills and still be left with dead dog ? Don't ever by from a breeder who does not do all genetic testing, hip x-rays, eye exams etc. and ask to see them or for the registry link on the net !!! Some lie !!! NEVER by from "hobby breeder" - a person that breeds for fun or some extra profit - you will get what you pay for ! If you remember , Happy had to dish out thousands for vets - so better pay more upfront and have a dog that will live healthy to the ripe old age of 15 !!!
Tiny dogs are also susceptible to all kinds of injuries - likebraking a leg if the sofa is too high - do you want to deal with that ?! Tiny dogs have tiny bladders and tinkle very often and sometimes it is
impossible to house train them (like Bichons- even breeders will tell you that). Tiny dogs can have all kind of heart problems, liver shunts, hernias, - you name it .
I do not have dogs but am doing "dog research" for fun for years now and in that process I met many breeders and I attended couple of shows - I just LOVE dogs. I can not have one since I am a neat-freak and all has to look nice and smell nice and also, with my health issues it would be just extra work, which I can not afford : (.
If you decide to have a poodle, let me know so I can pull the strings. I mostly know standard breeders, but I am sure they know miniature breeders among themselves.
I wish you the best puppy in this world XOXO !!!!

Would you support stem cell research if it could give you a new anus?
