Good luck Jen - babe - whatever you decide - we will be here to listen and understand - you know that . LIS is very simple procedure - no stitches since wound needs to drain. For me it drained for 2 days total , third day it was closed completely , maybe too soon . All in all - I understand hesitancy to do anything when one feels better - it will just be the matter of time when you just had enough of all that nonsense
and decide to make an end to it ! You are so lucky not to be in so much pain , but than, from the other side, it will always be difficult for you to decide with confidence to have the LIS . For me it was easy - the pain was excruciating 24/7 and I jumped gladly on that table - I had nothing to loose !

I am worried that my scar tissue down there is just going to keep ripping despite LIS, but what do I have to loose at this point. I just have so much I need to ask my CRS at our consult next week before the surgery. I will let you all know how it goes!

Fiss - I was reading in one of your other posts that with LIS they test the sphincter tightness with their fingers. Thats crazy! Everytime I have an exam (with CRS #1 & #2), they always tell me how tight things are in there.

I know - I also wonder why they do not have some instrument that measures tightness PRECISELY while procedure is done ! I know that they have the instruments since they always give "resting pressure " numbers in their research papers - why we all do not have those measurements done ??? I will ask my laser-guy about that next time I see him !

I was wondering about pain meds after surgery. Did anyone need to take a narcotic for pain? I would prefer to keep to Tylenol. I just don't want to take anything that will cause constipation issues. Did anyone have a problem with that?

I needed only one Perkocet (sp.?), than I used Tylenol since I can not take Ibuprofen. I actually don't even think that Perkocet was necessary - I just followed instructions to take it before the local stops working , but soon discovered that Tylenol alone was enough. That one Perkocet did nothing regarding constipation.
LIS pain for me was honestly one hundredth of the pain of acute fissure with spasms - I hope it will be that way for you too !!!

im allergic to loads of suff and couldnt even take ibruprofen because of a stomach ulcer, so i just had paracetamol, which seemed to take the edge off it enough. it really isnt as bad as it sounds!

I think the anal mammometry might test the tightness of the sphincter, but I am not sure about that.

If you need narcs, then by all means keep yourself comfortable. I just took a little MOM to help keep things going and I never got constipated. I take narcs several times a week still, but I have underlying nerve pain that makes the area just like a firecracker waiting to go off in the SC heat!

You may want to look into taking a drug such as neurontin for your nerve pain instead of the narcs. I feel silly telling you that because I am sure you are well aware of what works best for you. I just thought I would let you know just in case.

Also, I have been meaning to ask you if you take MOM every single day? Do you take it once a day? How much do you take? I want to use it for a while (until LIS and after that while I heal). My doctor told me not to use it everyday, but I have been. I know different doctors have different opinions on it.

i take 3 fibresure plus mag supplements and flaxoil and they seem to do the trick. although flaxoil cant be taken before surgery because it thins the blood
