Thanks for asking. I was just wondering the same thing about you! How did your appointment go?
My appointment was good. He said my fissure looks great. Infact, he was so impressed, he said he wishes he had before and after photos to show me. My fissure was always visable from the outside, and he said it is pretty much gone - It looks like a new butt! I am not surprised - my fissure has given me zero problems since LIS. He also said my large LIS incision finally closed. However, the skin is very sensitive. It will take a full 6-8 weeks to heal. I saw it too, and it is closed but it kind of looks bruised still. He said it still can rip open with a hard BM.
I am still feeling sore and feeling some buring and stinging everyday, but my CRS says that is totally normal for 2-3 weeks post op.
I am doing ok besides some minor issues, and I have not been posting it because there are good days and bad days - I just happen to have had a couple good days.
I don't know why, but lately I have been having major anxiety about becoming incontinent as I age. Did I do the right thing by getting LIS? I am loose down there - when I put in my glutamine suppository, I can feel how loose it is - it just used to be so darn tight. It kind of scares me, however holding in farts and stool is not an issue. You guys know me - I always seen to be paranoid about something.

ha ha haaaaaaaaa , Jen buddy - you are indestructible in your constant worry , oh boy, you made me laugh so hard Thanks buddy !!! Your sphincter will regain a lot of it's strength - it happens to EVERYBODY. In my case it went aaaaaalllll the way back - so enjoy your loose butt while you can - you will miss it - mark my words !!!!

Dear Jen-i didnt know it was ur appointment day yest.im so thrilled to know ur fissure is healing .but do take care and keep ur BMs soft and dont stress ur butt too much for the next few months.LIS has helped with the pain right?dont worry or regreat having it done.give it time to heal.

Jen, I really understand where you are coming from, but stop worrying...as Lecia says: We live now, we never know what will happen in the future. What is important now is that you can heal, don't be in pain, you can get pregnant - and go on with your life!

Jen, thats great news I'm so happy for you! Dont worry about years from now- just think of all the miserable years you could have spent with a tight butt and a fissure if you hadn't had it done. I'm sure it will tighten up anyway, everyone else's has, mine included! :D

If you didn't become immediately incontinent, then why worry? Maybe we need to just find you something to worry about, like the price of gas going to ten dollars!! :)
Relax, Jen! Your sphincter is not going to suddenly "give out!" And it is so good to be be loose again, believe me!

Yes, try not to worry. Incontinence isn't even the end of the world. There will never come a point where you will not have something to worry about. FEAR stands for false evidence appearing real and worry is a misuse of the imagination. When you start to worry, replace that thought at the very beginning instead of letting it take on a mind of it's own. We have a lot of worse case scenarios here but incontinence is not an issue.

I have rectal nerve damage and even I am not incontinent. Though during my period the spasms can be very strong and push out poop without me trying but it is always during my normal bathroom time.

Thanks for asking about my appt. I got lost and missed my first appt for the gait analysis so I had to reschedule. But I did get the EMGs done and the doctor said I have nerve damage (static on the line) at the S1 branch on the left side where all the pain is right now. He gave me a lidocaine injection and I felt great but the effects are wearing off. Next week I go in for some ultrasound studies.

It sounds like you are on you are on your way to a nicely healed butt! I know there are still bumps up and down, but enjoy knowing that you are healing. Try not to worry about the far future, we just don't know what is going to be in our futures and worrying just stresses us out. I know that is something I need to work on.
Enjoy your son while he is young, they grow up so fast.

congrats on such good healing jen!! it sounds like things are finally heading in the right direction.
and i really wouldn't worry about incontinence. i've had 2 surgeries and i don't even think about it. i kind of think the muscle regains some of its strength even after LIS...look at how tight fissy still was after her 1st. try not to worry what might happen years down the road. just keep taking care of yourself and let this thing heal, i know you made the right decision.
