You're not stupid at all... A fissure is very painful and I understand you doing anything you can to not make it worse. I'm the same way. As far as sex goes, just be very careful and if you are uncomfortable then don't but honestly I don't think it can make it worse. I think it's just the fear that it could that makes us avoid most things including sex.
Have you thought about getting the surgery? There's a thread on here about another Mom who had the surgery and she did really well after. I'm having it in a couple of weeks and I know of two people personally who have had it done and they are living normal good lives now. I know it's scarry. I'm a nervous wreck, but I hate seeing young people who should be enjoying their marriage and new baby dealing with this. I have a daughter and she has a six month old baby too and it would break my heart to see her suffering like this.
