I used Epsom salts (Pharmacy Grade) in the bath for the first month after LIS, I had a massive black bruise around my anus after the surgery and Epsom Salts is renowned for healing bruises, I believe this helped the bruising and swelling go down much faster than if I'd of just bathed in plain water, so using it cannot do any harm, give it a try, despite my long and slow healing I still think that using the salts helped relieve the symptoms quicker

I tried Epsom salt bathes for other things and do find it soothing. Personally I didn't find it very effective at actually healing anything (just my personal experience) but it does make symptoms ranging from itching to soreness decrease a bit. The concentration has to be pretty high (say a couple cups per bathtub full) before I notice any symptomatic relief though.

As far as I remember, it contains magnesium and Mg can be absorbed cutaneously , hence it supposedly helps relaxing muscles in general.
I used it - did not see any difference in healing, but I liked using it LOL since it was combined with some nice herbal oils that were soothing to my nerves, I guess ; ) !
Can not do any harm- that is for sure , and can possibly help !!! : ))))

I've been using epsom salt in my sitz bath lately to help with the swelling after my surgery.I think for an acute fissure it can help heal it since it does relax the sphincter muscles.I really doubt its gonna do anything for a chronic fissure though.

Go to CRS , if you can. They are really the only ones that are "in tune" with this condition 100 %
You know - chronic fissures are really hard to heal due to a scar tissue that forms and prevents nice and even closing of the wound : (((. BUT - it is not impossible !!!!!!!!!! NEVER loose hope and always look for the solution !
I needed 2 LIS surgeries until I was healed once and for all !!!! (KTW !!!!!) Image
