Think I've cracked it!!

Postby Bobcat » 25 Jan 2011, 00:52

Well, first day back at work went ok.
I have minimal pain, and I'm having relatively pain free BM's.
This is what confuses me though.............when I have lots of pain, of course I have blood. But.....when I have no pain, I have buckets of blood. What's all that about???
I really hope that I can keep on top of this. Last nights tea consisted of frozen veg boiled in vegetable stock and blitzed into a soup (was really nice actually!!) so I'm hoping if I keep this up I can stay pain free and get on with my life!
One thing I've come to realise though............you're never really rid unless you have surgery?
Well, fingers crossed that today goes well!
Hope you all have a stress free day!

Bobcat, It sounds like you're doing ok, it is possible to be rid of the fissure if it was only in the acute stage, so maybe it is/was, however, if you've had it for months on end then it could be chronic which (most) of the time requires surgery, surgery is a more permanent solution.

Well maybe you have internal hemorrhoids along with the fissure; they're supposed to cause painless bleeding? I'm not sure. It's going to take a doctor to tell you for certain. When I have pain, I have blood. When I don't have pain, I don't have blood. I'm pretty sure I have some small internal hemorrhoids that are contributing to my fissure mess, and I've always wondered if hemorrhoids can be the cause of fissures, especially since all my problems started after giving birth for the third time. I want answers too. Hang in there, glad you're at least feeling better!

OMG Alpine! I hope hems aren't the cause of fissures! If they are, my private insurance will not take the case on and I will have to wait on the NHS........my next appointment with my CRS isn't until April as it is!!
Hi Steve, I think mine may be chronic, been suffering since November?

hi bobcat,
are you sure you have hemmies? did you have the confirmed before?
i had lots of bleeding and to my surprise, i didn't have any. i thought for sure i would have had at least one since i had many bouts of straining prior to my anal fissure IQ going up.
i am sorry if you mentioned having hemmies before.
usually they say fissures become chronic if you can't alleviate them within a 6-8 week window with standard therapies such as diet and the ointments.
i don't like to close windows on the power of healing and what the body and mind are capable of doing but i would say if you have dealt with the fissure issue despite allowing all those therapies within a six-to-eight month period and still have issues, then yes, definitely welcome to the chronic fissure club.

Well Bobcat I guess fissures are fissures no matter how they're caused, right? It shouldn't change the way your insurance views it, if you've been diagnosed with a fissure then that's the way it is regardless of how they're caused or what aggravates them. I think you're chronic if you've been struggling more than a couple of months. April is a long time to wait on the CRS!

Over time, when a fissure heals a bit then re-tears over and over, scar tissue builds up which makes the fissure chronic and much more difficult to heal as you can imagine, the only real chance you've got of healing is LIS, and the surgical removal (scraping) of the scar tissue (Fissurectomy) which I've had.

I'm trying to figure out when this all started, and I'm sure it was early November. I think I had my first re-tear in December and actually had a terrible Christmas because of it! Then my latest re-tear was last Tuesday afternoon, but I have to say that I'm really impressed how quickly I got it under control! It's true what they say though, the skin tag is causing more problems that anything now!
