Hi fellow pains in the asses,
Ive suffered for about 4 years with fissures. I had the LIS about ten months ago. I would say it helped up to a point. I still have bad days but not like before. Once or twice a week I actually have a perfect day where I don't have any feeling down there.
But most the time it's still present enough to know there is still something wrong..
I have found a routine that seems to work well for me..
I quit drinking alcohol 3 months ago.
A fibre cereal in the morning usually mini wheats
Two glasses of Metamucil each day after lunch and before bed
three servings of either fruit or vegetables a day usually a banana, orange and
brocolli or caluliflower with dinner.
one b vitamin supplement
Avoid red meat.
Instead of a stool softner I switched to Senna Tea (a cup before bed)
Also lube my chassis before bed with either Bag balm or Musk oil.
Tip.. Use a qtip and hand held mirror for less messy application.
That seems to help things smoothly in the morning.
Always use baby wipes and use witch Hazel and Alum Powder for cleaning
when I not at home and hems get related.
Obviously try to exercise 20 minutes a day and drink more water.
The Irony is that my goal is to only go one good BM but the balance is that
one BM can't be too hard. But if it is too soft then going more than once irritates too much.
It's a catch 22 from Hell.
Still wish it would fully go away..
Not sure if I reinjure it sometimes or is it just scar tissue prone to ulcering and irritating from
a larger BM.
It's too bad I was misdiagnosed by a doctor for two years as having hems..Or I wouldn't be on this forum today.

So u didn't say if your fissure healed, do u still live with the burning? Have u thought of a second LIS? I've seen some on here needed the second one to fully heal the fissure. Sorry u have to b here but every bit of new info benefits us all! Welcome!
Btw, if u know anyone or have access to Mexico they have an OTC cream called sufrexal that claims to have a 90% heal rate! I have been using it for a week and after a year of pain am getting some relief, not sure if it's healing, but I feel better. Read happyass's post on sufrexal I think she found it helped with healing post op as well, and hasn't been back since!

Hi,
I'm not sure if it is healed..I still have days where there is a burning sensation. I have not had any spasms in 4 months. Actually the spasms stopped about the time I stopped drinking. I am 41 by the way and do work sitting behind a computer.
Having a second Lis is kind of scary.
It seems it would really increase the chances of incontinence.
I will try and help others through my experience..
Hopefully I will find the time.
I did post a few times over on the health boards.
I will also look into this mexican cream..Why not, I think I have tried everything at one point.
Thanks,
ouchtear

That sucks that your not healed after 10months!
I am kinda in the same boat but had my Lis 5 months ago.
yes a 2nd Lis is very scary for me. i guess the chances of incontinence is double been number 2....maybe.
I know another boardie steve has always said 1yr for himself to heal and when i have my bad days i just think of what he said.
have u seen your CRS of late????
