Sorry to hear you're suffering this much kristi, how long have you had your AF? Is it considered chronic yet? My CRS told me one important thing when i went to discuss it with him and book a surgery, after i told him how horrible my life is right now, he said once you feel it is drastically affecting your life, it is the time for surgery.
It hasn't been easy for me either, my entire life has been summarized to a 9:30 - 3:30 period. That's the time i go to work, i have worked around a system to ensure that i am pain free in the mornings so i can go to work during that time.
After 3:30 my day ends and the agony starts, after the first BM it is all about hot baths and laying down all day until the next day in the morning and so on. I miss all the things i used to do with my friends, and unfortunately no one cares enough to visit. People don't really understand how horrible AF is until they get it. If you think your AF won't heal on its own consider surgery, don't waste your time, happiness and life waiting for some cure that probably won't work.
One last tip: consider your diet, adjust it to what suits your body and AF. I have been on steamed veggies, fruit compotes and soup all week and i was doing well, the pain would only last for an hour or so, soreness persists but it is much easier than the initial pain post BM. I had one small bite size of lamb ribs yesterday, and i paid for it today. I am totally skipping red meat of my menu, sticking with veggies for now. Find out a diet that guarantees you the maximum level of comfort. I hope you get better soon!
