Quick help needed - bloating.

Postby Bernie » 22 Sep 2011, 11:46

I went out today and left home before my usual BM. My daughters had been good, so I decided to treat them to pizza hut buffet (my elder daughter loves the salad), and I had the buffet too. And I had diet coke, rather than my usual water. Image Afterwards I knew I had eaten(!), and we walked home.
This afternoon, I have been feeling more and more bloated (I'm now in quite a bit of pain) and just now I remembered I haven't had a BM at all today, so I'm now scared about going, worried that I still don't have the urge to go, though I know that is probably the reason for my bloatedness. Image
Following the advice of the CRS, I'm no longer taking movicol or diltiazem, only a single sachet of fybogel last thing at night. Given that I have all three to hand, plus a litre of prune juice, what combination do you recommend?
I'm scared of the pain/blood that tomorrow will bring if I don't have a BM today, and I've a full day of activities with the children planned tomorrow (that we've already paid for and are looking forward to) so I can't be in pain or tied to the house iykwim.
TIA

Just my opinion, and what would work for me personally....
I think I would use the diltiazem tonight and in the morning, and use movicol tonight and in the morning. But use whatever you used in the past that worked well.
Actually, movicol might take a few days to work? Have you got any milk of magnesia?

I agree with Val. Also, use Vaseline around ur o before ur bm to help ease them out.
Best of Luck!

Thanks for the advice. I don't have any milk of magnesia, but have hit the prune juice, and have had 2 large glasses. I still don't have the urge to go, but have felt some movement in the intestines, so that's a good sign. Hopefully I'll have a BM later.
l will use the dilt and vaseline, too.
Thanks again. Serves me right for not thinking about what I was eating today...

Thanks Andrea. Well, I had a BM last night, and after the blockage moved, everything behind was on the loose side. The blockage was uncomfortable, but at least there was no blood, so I think that was a good result. :-)
