First post-LIS poop question

Postby Jojo1 » 23 Oct 2011, 07:59

I've seen wher most people say that first bm after, even if full and firm due to drugs is less painful than one with the fissure and I wondered why that is. I mean most immediately the fissure is still there, so how is it they are so much less painful immediately?

I exprienced this too. I went from 7-8 (pre-op BMs) on the pain scale to a 2-3 (post-op BMs) on the pain scale. My slightly educated guess is that there is simply more room/bigger opening and less pressure so the fissure(s) aren't stretched as much. Also, maybe some healing takes place with the increased blood flow following surgery. Afterall, that is the main point of surgery. My .02 cents...I'm certianly no expert.

I have had no pain with any post surgery poop. I think a major reason is because the muscle is no longer going into spasm. Plus the muscle isn't as tight so it is not pulling the fissure apart at the same time. My guess.

I agree with Tony. The muscle is relaxed and no longer in spasm. I noticed the first bm's right after LIS were HUGE and didn't hurt as much as a small one would before the surgery.

I'm with Dawn. I had the same experience. Gotta take the pressure off that fissure!
