Nefeditine vs. Nitro?

Postby beachgirl » 07 Nov 2011, 11:01

Is one better than the other? Tomorrow i am seeing my CRS so perhaps i can ask for a switch. The nitro can give me a headache and i already get migraines. But i certainly want the most effective thing.
thanks

I have used a compounded Nifedipine since March. It worked quite well for the first few months, healing the skin on the outside, though I never really felt it was doing much else...
I have never tried the Nitro, but others have used Diltiazem and Nifedipine and had good results. Maybe mine is so chronic after nearly 18 months or so, that it is difficult to do anything except surgery to have an end to it.
I have been saying that I did not like Sitz Baths...however, since yesterday I am trying a different track, using it twice a day to see what this does for me, as the way I used it before was possibly a bit too casual. I have had so much pain, that I have nothing to lose. So, will post my results in two weeks, before I go off to the Cleveland Clinic and my CRS (2nd one) appointment.

Nefidipine worked much better for me than nitro. I got bad headaches with the nitro. So bad I just couldn't use it often enough. Nefidipine .3% with 1.5% lidocain (for pain relief) was the best mix for me. However, ultimately I had to have surgery...I didn't take care of my fissures fast enough during the accute stage. Good Luck! Image
