anti biotics

Postby lurker53 » 29 Nov 2011, 11:27

Anyone have to go on anti biotics after their first LIS checkup like I have? If so, which ones?
I saw my CRS last Monday for my three week checkup. She said the fissure was almost 100-percent healed and that must be true because it doesn't bother me a bit. But the incision site was still sore so she put me on Cipro and Flagyl, 500mg 2 x a day for 7 days.
That night I started feeling the muscle from my left ass cheek (where incision is) down to my thigh and sometimes down to my knee becoming sore. I thought it was because she "opened me up a bit" to take a look so shrugged it off. It continued Tuesday and got worse Wednesday and then the diarrhea started.
Just finished my 7 day course of these evil drugs Sunday night and still feel that soreness.
Just spoke to the nurse at CRS office and she said the Flagyl could cause the muscle soreness and the Cirpo could cause the diarrhea and that it could be a few more days before I start feeling better but she is going to check with the doc and get back to me.
She asked if I was running a fever and that's the one thing I regret, our thermometer broke and I haven't gotten a new one. Might go get one later today. I have felt warm a couple of times during the week but chalked that up to the anti biotics.
I had heard that a fever is not indicative of an LIS infection anyhow or is that wrong?
Anyhow, I have no puss or drainage at all from incision site and I just did a clean wipe (no poop, just a wipe to see how things felt) and it didn't hurt and nothing was on the TP.
I guess the muscle soreness just bothers me and makes me anxious.

Can't help, but I am interested to know the result. I have begun having a discharge and some tenderness in the cheek muscle next to where I believe the incision is since yesterday. But yesterday was my first full day back to work (lot of sitting), plus rehearsal last night for a performance this week (more sitting up straight). I'm hoping it's nothing serious. Spoke with doc's office yesterday and they said to watch it, mindful of increased drainage, soreness and/or fever.
Hopefully, you'll get over the affect of the anti-biotics and be on the mend soon.

I was placed on a 2 weeks course of Metronidazole (nasty antibiotics) straight after LIS, they gave me runny stools that burnt like hell, couldn't wait to finish them off, they are prescribed as a precaution to fend off any risk of infection.

I was put on a week of Flagyl after my fistula surgery. It was vile stuff - i was like a zombie on it.
