Day 3 post op

Postby Sue1962 » 12 Jan 2012, 09:38

Well on day 3 of LIS surgery. Everything is moving well!! Although, I will say, I am feeling really tender and sore this morning, more so than yesterday, kind of like a constant ache. Still very swollen and black and blue, kind of stingy at times, but NO spasms. I think my fissure is what is stinging mine was very deep...to the muscle, but all I had was LIS, no fissurectomy or tag removal.I am assuming this is normal b/c all the feelings are coming to life after being really traumatized down there. I did sit on the couch alot yesterday as my back was killing me from laying so not sure if I sat too much. My discharge papers didn't say anything about not sitting but I know it can't be great b/c of the swelling. Trying to lay on my side more today and prop up with pillows. I am such a Type A, all this laying is killing me, kind of going stir crazy LOL. Was thinking yesterday, I would feel like a million dollars today, I guess it just takes time and I am only on day 3. I can't imagine anyone going to work day 3 or 4, my CRS said if I feel up to it I could. All in all, still glad I did this, just wish healing was faster!!! before surgery on Monday, I thought by Friday, I'll be back to my normal before fissure self...Friday will be 4 days post op. Guess still kind of early in the game.

I finally got the nerve to look!!! Have just been going on what my husband has been telling me. Looks pretty good. Just really bruised, swollen more swollen on the right than left. I am assuming he did the 9oclock incision.

Hang in there, Sue! I'm following your progress and hope you'll be feeling well, very soon.
I admire you for having the surgery. I'm still on the fence about it. Still suffering, too.

Thanks SB!!! I am soooo glad I had it!!! No spasms since Monday morning before surgery!!! I was having them all day for months and months...Oh the agony. I suffered to long and was tired of being in pain. I am a very active person, live life to the fullest and that fissure took the wind right out of my sail. So I finally had enough and had the LIS. I wish I had done it 2 years ago!!! Just looking forward to being "normal" again and being able to ride my Harley without any pain!

I'm still fighting my AF. Gads - well, we shall see how this goes.
Anyhow, Sue, I admire your spirit. :)

Thanks so much for posting details of your surgery, I have an appointment with my CRS on Wed. and I am going to beg for surgery, as soon as he can do it now! You have inspired me at just the right time! My goal now is to have this thing done, take a couple weeks off work, recover, feel great then travel to Holland with my daughter in the summer to spend time with my 2 year old triplet neices and nephew! I live in Canada and can't even think about spending a night somewhere, much less flying and spending a few weeks with this curse. Keep feeling better! And keep us informed of your progress.

Hi Anne. I am soooo happpy I can help with my posts!! I have received so much great advice and encouragement from many LIS vets, but one in particular, Dawn, really came to my rescue and walked me through everything. I had the surgery mainly b/c of her!!! I was absolutely terrified of it and she calmed my every fear. Most people when feeling better leave the forum, and the ones who have continued problems hang around, but I will not leave If I can help just one person with my experience then that will make me feel great!!! I hope you get the answers you are looking for with your CRS, and have surgery as soon as you can.
