Foods to avoid?

Postby sailorgal » 23 Feb 2012, 08:43

Hello AF-friends,
Just curious as to what foods you all avoid. I try to mostly avoid bread and cheese and only have a small amount on a rare occasion. I totally avoid processed and fried foods. I do partake in a cup of tea, sometimes a glass of wine and sometimes some chocalate.
Any thoughts?

I avoid red meat and cheese like the plague! I'm also on a gluten free and diabetic diet so that limits me even further. Most of the gluten free bread is very constipating so I eat very little of it. Actually I live mostly on vegetables and fruit and some plain yogurt. I do enjoy a couple of cups of coffee per day though.

You know I still eat everything, but smaller portions. I never did eat fast food. I also makes sure I have an extra helping of veg with each meal.
I don't do a lot of beans because of the gas thing. not fun! :)
I did stop coffee and tea and chocolate because my doc said so, but I really don't see that it's making much difference. So after I see him next week I will most likely go back to that. I only drank decaf anyways.

yeah, i ventured into trying some cheese last night (after avoiding it for a while), and think that may have contributed to my difficulties/pain this morning . . . back to avoiding it again.

Nuts - Seriously do not go there!
Red Meat
Processed Foods (white pasta, white bread, white rice)
It's important not to be too strict on yourself though - for me two glasses of red wine cause me no problems.

really? nuts? i love almonds and have convinced myself that if i make sure to chew them to practically pulp that it is ok . . . seems to be;
yeah, totally (mostly) avoiding red meats - if it is served, i might try only one bite; and i still do a glass of wine and some chocalate here and there - strange to be forced into learning moderation by this experience, moderation until now has been so foreign a concept to me :)

I eat brown rice for the fiber. White rice would probably be a bad idea. I eat nuts too, every day. I just chew them really well. Which is probably a good habit to get into anyways! :)
yes there is a silver lining to everything i guess! lol
