please help me immediately

Postby abijag » 24 Jan 2012, 10:29

Dear friends,
Last week I got a severe constipation and resulted in a fissure at anterior midline. This is the second time I am getting this as the first one was a year back and healed with diet control and diltiazem application. This time the only only sign was irritation at BM, no blood etc. Afterwards I managed my food intake with lots of fibre with diltiazem application and BM become normal with no irritation at BM.
But the strange thing was that I am experiencing now is a severe peri anal itch even after discontinuing the diltiazem application. The itching become worst at night, leading to midnight awakening, but controlled once i sat in hot water for 5-10 minutes.
Any help regarding to come out of this peri anal itch
Thanks
Abi

Hi, Abi -
I don't have that particular symptom, but I just wanted to offer my support and say that I hope you feel better, very soon.
These types of problems are very discouraging, I know. Hang in there, and I hope it works out for you.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your care.I have got my fissures healed, no pain during BM. I increased my fibre intake for preventing hard stools. I am also applying nitroglycerin ointment. But still having issues with itching especially around the peri anal area skin. Did nitro causes this itch, why I am asking is that I am not able to prevent the slight seepage of the nitro ointment applying inside the anus. Any advice Please
Thanks
Abi

It could be the nitro causing it. You wouldn't know for sure unless you stopped using it. Do you still need it?
What if you put some zinc oxide (diaper rash cream) around the outside of your anus (that is where the itching is?)? That way any nitro seeping out wouldn't bother the skin there.
Glad you are healed!

Thanks Tanya. I am still applying nitro in the fear that one fine morning I will land up again in the fissure. Is it safe to use diaper rash cream around the anus, not inside the anus? If yes mean, how long this can be applied? Any advice.
I am also planning to stop using nitro from today onwards to see whether the itch will go
Thanks
Abi

I wouldn't put zinc oxide inside the anus.
I wouldn't use it for more than a couple days in a row. Usually if it is going to help with a rash, it helps in the first day or so.
Another thing that helps me for irritated skin, is aloe vera. If you get an aloe vera gel that doesn't have alcohol in it, it is safe to use inside the anus too.
I know that fear. But I just stopped my nifedipine because it was making my periods really heavy. So now I just do coconut oil and lanolin. Cross yer fingers!
Best to err on the side of caution always.
