My GP prescribed colace... and it never worked very well. I picked up Miralax from this forum and i've been on it ever since. My CRS likes it and says it's safe to be on for long term. I've been taking it for 3 weeks, 1/3 dose with light lunch and 2/3 dose with dinner. Bit more when I eat out with my girl...

I asked my CRS if there was an ideal time to take Miralax (or Restoralax, in your case) and he said it didn't matter as long as you take it consistently (i.e., every day, preferably at the same time). I take my dose every morning with my breakfast and it has changed my life!
By the way, Miralax will definitely NOT bulk up your stool. It works by drawing more water into your stool which helps soften it. In fact, if you take too much it will actually cause you to have very soft stools (i.e., like melted ice cream). You will have to experiment to see what the right dose is for you. If I were you, I would start with the recommended full dose and then adjust it based on the effect it has on your stools. When I first starting taking it, I took a full dose and it made by stools too soft. I adjusted my dose to a half dose and that works perfectly for me. Keep in mind that it can take several days to achieve the full effect (24 to 72 hours), so be patient before making adjustments.
Taking Miralax was the best advice my CRS has ever given me!

An update! After many days of using Restoralax (aka. Miralax) I still have the same issue: a bulky start to my poos, followed by the ideal consistency.
After doing some (more) research, I think I need to concentrate on the insoluble fiber in my diet.

Focus on soluble fiber in your diet, rather than just any fiber. Insoluble fiber is good for you, but it can cause bulkier stools.
